City Council supports bond to finance arts center project By JON WILCOX jon@appenmedia.com JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Johns Creek City Council members said they support asking residents to vote on a bond to pay for a $60 million performing arts center they say could transform the city.. At its June 9 meeting, the council discussed several funding options for the center, settling on a $40 million general obligation bond. City Manager Kimberly Greer asked members to

think about how the center would be used, saying that factor would determine the best way to fund it. Voters could be asked to consider the bond on the November ballot. To place the referendum on that ballot, the Fulton County Board of Elections has requested notice by as late as July 1. In addition to general obligation bonds, the performing arts center could be funded by revenue bonds or lease-purchase financing through the Georgia Municipal Association.

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — The City of Johns Creek is working to get residents their own ZIP code. City officials are awaiting a response from the U.S. Postal Service after sending the agency a letter in March. U.S. Rep. Rich McCormick and U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff joined Mayor John Bradberry in sending letters requesting the ZIP code change. The Postal Service requested a list of all Johns Creek addresses in May but has since provided no update. The Postal Service’s ZIP Code Boundary Review process could establish a new ZIP code or change ZIP codes. In his letter, Mayor Bradberry said the request stems from a desire to provide a sense of community to residents and business owners. “As our city continues to strive to develop its own sense of community, identity and place, we know that having our name “Johns Creek” clear for everyone, both inside and outside our city, is vital,” Bradberry said.
