FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Foster families are the secret behind one of the Humane Society of Forsyth County’s most impressive statistics. Kittens are adopted after an average stay of just three days. That’s one of the reasons behind a grant obtained by the Humane Society to fund a two-hour Kitten College seminar for kitten fosterers and cat rescue organizations from throughout the region, said Diviya Roney, Humane Society cat programs and client services director. “The more foster homes that we can create, the more lives we can save,” Roney said. The class focused on care for one of rescues’ most vulnerable pets. Neonatal, or infant kittens, were historically euthanized by many shelters because they require specialized care. But Kitten College CEO and founder Marnie Russ said they can grow into easily adoptable kittens.
