Brooke Street Park swings to retro rock By STANLEY LEARY newsroom@appenmedia.com ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Brooke Street Park turned into a celebration of classic rock, community and nostalgia May 16, as Under the Stars — Vibe Fest drew veteran Atlanta musicians for an evening of ’70s and ’80s music.
Guests arrived in retro attire, danced near the stage and gathered under the evening sky while musicians from multiple bands shared one stage and performed songs that spanned generations. The event was the vision of Tony Pace, founder of The Decades Band, who said the idea traces
back decades to his years living on Long Island, N.Y. Pace, who has played in bands for 55 years, said he had previously organized a group made up of top musicians on Long Island who would occasionally come together to perform.

ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell officials reached a compromise at the May 12 Committees of Council meeting on the city’s list of projects to fund if voters renew the transportation sales tax this November. All cities in Fulton County must submit a list of potential projects by the end of the month. The Roswell City Council is set to formally approve the list at its May 26 meeting. Proposed projects are ranked in three tiers associated with funding priorities. Roswell expects to receive between $85-$95 million through 2031, if the third installment of Transportation Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) is approved. The discussion continued around whether TSPLOST funds should be used for road resurfacing. Previously, council members Allen Sells and Christine Hall raised concern with using special tax dollars for projects that are budgeted within Roswell’s general fund. However, nearly 1,200 respondents to a community survey ranked road resurfacing as a priority. “All the values were on the survey, so the citizens saw the values and still voted that as their number one,” Mayor Mary Robichaux said, “…with them knowing and having seen the dollar value associated with it.” Across the entire list, citywide resurfacing is allocated $25 million across five years, attempting to make significant progress on implementing a 20-year repaving cycle for Roswell’s roads. The city could repave about 33 miles of roadway each year drawing $5 million in TSPLOST money and allocations from the general fund budget.
