ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Four members of the Alpharetta Lions Club visited the Warrior Freedom Service Dogs kennel facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn., to present the nonprofit with more than $12,000 in donations. The proceeds, donated May 1, were raised at the Alpharetta Lions Club’s casino night fundraiser in March. Warrior Freedom Service Dogs provides veterans suffering from service-induced brain injuries, like post-traumatic stress or traumatic brain injury, with trained service dogs at no cost.

Roswell adjusts dredging aid policy By HANNAH YAHNE hannah@appenmedia.com ROSWELL, Ga. — The Roswell City Council approved the first reading of multiple amendments to the city’s Unified Development Code and Code of Ordinances May 11. Amendment approvals

started with the second reading of Roswell’s dredging assistance policy that changed the timeline for applications to better align with the city’s budget process. For a neighborhood’s request to be considered for the following year’s budget, applicants must submit a draft application before March 31. The complete

application, along with a land disturbance permit, must be approved before Dec. 31 of the year the application is submitted. Other code amendments are aimed to curb unsightly practices in certain areas and will allow Code Enforcement to act on violations.

ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell High hosted an Elite Eight double header May 5 where both boys and girls teams powered ahead to the semi-finals of the GHSA Division 2 State Tournament. The boys dominated Decatur 21-3. Roswell is ranked No. 1 in the state and earlier this season appeared in USA Lacrosse’s Public High School national rankings. The two teams faced each other Feb. 26 when the Hornets prevailed 19-5.

GIRLS: HORNETS 9, GRIZZLIES 4 BOYS: HORNETS 21, BULLDOGS 3 This time, Roswell director of lacrosse Bryan Wallace celebrated 250 career wins. The program surprised him with a banner and award after the game. Wallace said it was special to surpass 250 with the same group he was with at the 200 mark, and to do it in the playoffs with such a convincing win. “Feeling really good about where our game is offensively,” he said.
