Roswell council members curb data center growth By HANNAH YAHNE hannah@appenmedia.com ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell became the latest Georgia city to place a moratorium on data centers, Jan. 12. It was among the first official acts by the city’s reconstituted governing body that includes a new mayor and three new City Council members.

City Councilwoman Sarah Beeson spoke in support of the temporary ban, saying data centers are a strain on land and Roswell’s utilities and power grid. “Really it’s just us taking a look at our code and seeing if that fits anywhere and where that possibly would,” Beeson said.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — One of Alpharetta’s hidden recreational gems will receive some much-needed repairs. Morgan Rodgers, Alpharetta Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services director, asked City Council members to support a touch-up for the “gorgeous” trail, which has received no major overhaul since 1999. “The walking trail at Webb Bridge Park is one of the unknown jewels of the City of Alpharetta,” Rodgers said. “It’s really just a gorgeous place to walk.” The Alpharetta City Council unanimously approved the repairs during its Jan. 12 meeting. Winding through natural areas and by active recreation amenities, the rock pathway has sustained erosion, requiring repairs to ensure its safety and viability. City staff received six bids for the work, selecting the only offer within the budget. A $96,500 contract with Steele & Associates will restore the trail, clean out ditches and drains, regrade slopes, fill in ruts, bridge over roots and remove paving materials that have crept out of its bounds.
