PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

Summer Creativity Days

This summer, we proudly hosted our Second Annual Summer Creativity Days, a day camp designed for children to immerse themselves in the arts. The program encompassed music, visual arts, and theatre, all integrated into an enriching experience.

Throughout June, we conducted camps every Friday, catering to children aged 5 to 12 years. Our 2025 Summer Interns led all the classes, providing valuable guidance and instruction.

2025 Summer Interns

In 2022, ArtStation launched a Summer Internship Program for teens, encompassing both high school and college students. What began with a single intern has expanded to include eight remarkable young individuals.

This summer, our interns have achieved significant milestones, including leading Summer Creativity Days, assisting at Theatre Camps, and undertaking their Summer Project, which involves creating a mural in honor of Liberty Street High School.

APRIL Highlight

In May 2025, the Appalachian Arts Alliance (AAA) launched its inaugural Musical Revue. However, this is not the first Musical Revue to grace our town; rather, AAA sought to revisit the roots of the arts in Hazard by revitalizing a cherished production, ‘Harmony in the Mountains.’

With a fresh perspective, AAA renamed the show ‘Harmony in Hazard.’ This community production aims not only to support local artists but also to generate funds for the theater programming.

This was a show you definitely didn’t want to miss! For one night only, AAA brought the vibrant atmosphere of New York City to Hazard with an array of Broadway hits, including “Hard Knock Life,” “Suddenly Seymour,” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”

The performance was a resounding success, not only in raising funds for the arts but also in delivering an electrifying experience for attendees. The transition from canned music to a live band significantly enhanced the production Following this success, AAA is excited to continue this cherished tradition and will bring “Harmony in Hazard” back to the stage in 2026!

“Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something, then you’re more willing to take risks.”
– Yo-Yo Ma

Shooting Stars Youtheatre (SSYT) is a program based in Lexington, Kentucky, with which the ArtStation has collaborated for five years. Together, we have conducted over ten camps, ranging from our inaugural production of 'Alice in Wonderland' to 'Peter Pan.'

Each year, we proudly offer Spring, Summer, and occasionally Fall camps at no cost to participants. Our recent Spring production of 'Peter Pan' was truly remarkable, and we take great pride in the accomplishments of the students who participated in our camps!

MAY

HIGHLIGHTS

History in the Making!

The Appalachian Arts Alliance officially commenced its Kindermusik classes in January 2021. What began as a single class rapidly expanded, resulting in remarkable growth. This May, we had the privilege of hosting our inaugural Kindermusik graduation ceremony, celebrating five students, two of whom were unable to attend but were still recognized.

Most of our students have been with us since the inception of our Kindermusik journey, progressing from dancing and shaking instruments to learning how to read music on a staff.

During our showcase, students performed on the glockenspiel, dulcimer, and recorder. Congratulations to the Class of 2025 Kindermusik graduates: Olivia, Atharv, Lincoln, Cameron, and Christian.
