Giltrap Farm Machinery (trading as Giltrap AgriZone) is a major supplier of tractors and farm machinery in the Waikato and central North Island. Welcome to our late summer/autumn mailer. The first month of the year has already gone and as we reflect on 2014 for a moment it was a year that started with record dairy commodity prices but ended a little more subdued. However we all watch the dairy auction and hope the price will continue to lift. Some rain across the region has been very welcome. During 2014 we celebrated delivering our 500th Case IH tractor. I would like to thank our many customers for helping us achieve the position of
number one selling brand in Waikato in 2014. We invite all Case IH owners to send a picture of your tractor or baler to marketing@gaz.co.nz and receive a free gift to celebrate this achievement. We also have a photo competition: the picture you send will go into a draw to win a free Ipad or one of three $100 Case IH clothing vouchers. We have also significantly grown the sales of our key brands of equipment and we appreciate your support. My team in Parts and Service has been working hard over the busy harvest season to keep all your
machinery running well. We hope your expectations and requirements have been met. Also in 2014 we added Manitou to our line-up of our top-quality brands. Watch the progress of our new premises at Victoria Road, Hautapu, Cambridge as we aim for completion in early May. Up-coming events are two demonstration days in March, the opening of our new premises in May and then it won’t be long until Fieldays in June. Thanks for your support.

SCHWITZER CONTRACTING Schwitzer Contracting, a subsidiary of parent company KS Developments, is an agricultural contractor with a number of lifestyle clients ranging from ½ acre to 5 acre farms. With responsibility for full block grass care, Schwitzer requires a range of equipment to enable them to harvest and make conventional, mini hay bales. “The smaller bales are really starting to come back into vogue”, says Karl Schwitzer, Owner of Schwitzer Contracting. “Because the grass is greener when we harvest it, we make more of a silage product and we get more nutritional value from the grass. It also means we have a longer season, that tends to go from mid September to January.” Since starting operations 6 years ago, Schwitzer Contracting have purchased a number of Case and Lely products from GAZ. “We find they have a good selection of machinery, and they’re local and really go out of their way to help us.” Most recently, Schwitzer Contracting have purchased the Maxxum CVT. “We feel very lucky to have secured

FIRST MANITOU TELEHANDLER SOLD Tom, Val and son Willy Rowling’s are the proud owners of the 1st Manitou sold by Giltrap Agrizone. Willy is an equity partner in the 190 hectare family farm 15 minutes south of Whakatane. The farm has 450 milkers and is running quite a high input system. Since taking ownership of the Manitou in December, Willy says he has been very impressed with it. “It has a few more features than our previous machine, particularly the quick coupling on the front auxiliary which means it is heaps quicker to change the attachments on the front. And it has a higher capacity and is great for driver comfort”. SERVICE TIP COOLING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE The next couple of months is a good time to check and service your tractors cooling system. It is recommended that a 6 point preventative cooling system maintenance check be performed at least once every two years. Consult your vehicle operations manual for specific guidelines. This inspection is designed to identify areas that need attention, and consists of: • a visual inspection of all cooling system components, including belts and hoses • a radiator cap pressure test to check for the recommended system pressure level • a thermostat check for proper opening and closing • a pressure test to identify any external leaks to the cooling system parts;
including the radiator, water pump, engine coolant passages, radiator and heater hoses and heater core • an internal leak test to check for combustion gas leakage into the cooling system • an engine cooling fan test for proper operation
Things to watch for • Check antifreeze/coolant level monthly. Only use a 50/50 solution of anti-freeze/ coolant and water. • Water quality plays an important role in protecting the cooling system. A high mineral content may cause scaling or corrosion. Deionized or distilled water should be used in 50/50 solution • CAUTION: Do not remove the radiator pressure cap when the engine is HOT.

• Inspect belts monthly. Replace belts that are worn, frayed or glazed. Adjust belts when more than 1/2 inch can be depressed between the pulleys. • Belts with spring-loaded tensioners do not require manual adjustments. • Replace bulging, rotten, or brittle hoses and tighten hose clamps. If a hose looks bad or feels too soft or too hard, it should be replaced.
