It’s a sunny day in Apopka, as the city commences its annual Health and Fitness Fest. Flocked by health service providers, nonprofits, and vegan food vendors, residents line up to join the festivities. It is ideal for conducting public outreach. Though at my table, where I raise awareness on the East Central Florida Brownfield Coalition, many are scratching their heads over a tough survey question, saying, “I can only choose one?” or “This is hard, they’re all so important.” I hear this often and usually with a slightly nervous laugh, and each time I say back with a smile, “That’s why we need your top dot vote!” Since 2021, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC), in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and PPM Consultants, has worked on implementing the OBT/ US 441 Brownfield Coalition program. The program provides environmental site assessments to cities along the historic US 441/Orange Blossom Trail,
