As the state’s urban areas continue their rapid growth, local and regional agencies seek funding to advance public transportation projects that improve mobility and accessibility. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has published its draft State Transit Strategy and announced a new flexible funding program that can help cover operating and maintenance costs for start-up premium services. More programs may follow. The Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA) will discuss upcoming legislation that affects public transportation and how transit is recovering after the pandemic.
