homas R. Pugliese was born on Sackett Street in the Cobble Hill (Red Hook) section of South Brooklyn, the youngest child of Michelina and Vincent Pugliese. Michelina was born in Sorrento, Italy and came to America as a young girl. Tom’s father, Vincent Pugliese was born in Calabria, Italy and came to America as a young man. Michelina and Vincent Pugliese met and married in Savannah Georgia and moved to Brooklyn about 1929. Vincent worked at the Brooklyn waterfront and Michelina was a homemaker and earned money making custom leather gloves. See the rest of the story on page 8
