Benefit Sale Set For Oct. 4
All Proceeds Go To Restoration Of Historic Heishman’s Mill By Karl Pass Heishman’s Mill is a historic water power mill along the Conodoguinet Creek in Cumberland County listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 1206 Creek Road, Carlisle, Pa., it is owned by Randy Heishman, a descendant of the last operating
owners, and operated by the Friends of Historic Heishman’s Mill (FHHM). This Pennsylvania 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation is committed to increasing public access to the Conodoguinet Creek Water Trail at the mill (there is a portage) and insuring the ongoing preservation of the mill and dam through educational programs.
To raise funds towards structural restoration, the FHHM is holding a benefit auction on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. It will be held on-site, with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards this restoration project. Auctioneer Todd Umbrell is donating his services to conduct the auction. There will be no buyer’s premium
and no sales tax, and again, all proceeds are for the restoration. Donated items include antique tools such as axes, saws, augers, and various antique hardware; a pair of 19th-century portraits (sitters identified); antique sleds; cast iron stoves; coffee mill grinders; frames; glass and china; and Continued on page 6
