A tradition will continue as antique and collectible dealers and patrons return to the Centreville Antique Market at the St. JosephGrange Fairgrounds in Centreville, Mich., on Sunday, Aug. 13. Dealers from throughout the Midwest will offer a variety of antiques and collectibles set up in seven buildings and also outdoors under tents. Held rain or shine, the event will feature a massive assortment of country furniture, old toys, vintage clothing, estate jewelry, hunting collectibles, oil lamps, coin-ops, old coins, and everything for the eclectic to the eccentric collectors. Since the rebirth of this Sunday market in 2006, interest and participation by dealers and the public have been nothing short of

sensational. “Investing in antiques for both pleasure and profit has been a mainstay of the business for years and will always continue to be so,” said Bob Zurko of Zurko’s Midwest Promotions. “The early bird gets the worm and the best buys.” The Centreville Market’s Sunday dates for 2017 will be Aug. 13 and Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The admission will be $4. Children under age 16 will be admitted free of charge with an adult. Early buyers can arrive during dealer setup on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $10, with the fee good for admission on both days. Food and free parking will be available. For additional information, readers may call Zurko’s Midwest Promotions at 715-526-9769 or visit www.zurkopromotions.com.

The crowds gather for the opening regardless of the weather, knowing this is among the best selection of antiques in New York. Eight giant tents surrounded by many dealers in their own tents will fill the fields for New York state’s largest antiques weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Aug. 18, 19, and 20, creating the Madison-Bouckville Big Field Antiques Show. Now hosted by Allman Promotions of Clinton, N.Y., the show was begun in 1971 as an event to build more business for the local antiques shops, restaurants and hotels by Jock Hengst, who at the time owned Landmark Tavern, the restaurant at the crossroads in Bouckville. Steve Allman has been rebuilding the show with dealers that supply decorators and collectors with fresh-to-the-market antiques. Now

in his fourth year managing the show, but with over 30 years experience in running shows, he has been attracting more dealers back to The Big Field for the long-running annual show. His work will yield more than 300 exhibitors to The Big Field, making it the highlight of Madison Bouckville’s Antiques Week. Shoppers have looked upon The Big Field as the source for some of the best antiques, the place to go for merchandise that is not shop worn but fresh to the marketplace. This is because many of Allman’s exhibitors wait for this show to offer their goods, knowing it will draw the biggest crowds, rain or shine, to Continued on page 4
