Embassy Auctions To Hold “Pieces Of History” Sale

Antique Airplane Donated To Museum

Unique Offerings Encompass Auction On July 25 By Karl Pass Lee Jacobs of Embassy Auctions International has had unique and eclectic offerings in his sales, but much of the material slated for Thursday, July 25, may take the cake. Coined as the “Pieces of History Auction,” the event will feature truly unique consignments from all over the country. It will be a live in-house sale with online bidding available through www.liveauctioneers.com

and www.invaluable.com. Embassy is located at 5336 Mine Road in Kinzers, Pa., and the sale will start at 7 p.m. Among the featured items will be five items of Marilyn Monroe’s clothes and accessories with provenance from June DiMaggio and others. Two pieces from the Mary Todd Lincoln estate will include an 18th-century French tall case clock and a Federal mahogany secretary desk owned by Abraham Lincoln. Continued on page 7

Piper Aircraft Museum In Lock Haven, Pa., Is Recipient By Michael Remas

A two-piece bathing suit owned and worn by Marilyn Monroe is presented in a showcase frame with several photos of Monroe in a variety of bathing suits. This piece comes with a letter of provenance from June DiMaggio (Joe Di Maggio’s niece and friend of Marilyn Monroe). The letter states that the suit was purchased in Hawaii by Joe DiMaggio for Monroe and was one of her favorites. After her death, Di Maggio gave the bathing suit to his mother, Lee DiMaggio.

Airplanes may not commonly be thought of as antiques, but that is not the case in the small plane recently donated to the Piper Aircraft Museum in Lock Haven, Pa.
