Solution Manual For Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Planned Change, 6E By Wayne N. Welsh, Philip W .Harris, Bradley D. Edwards Chapter 0-7 Chapter 0 Preface We have put a considerable amount of time and thought into developing good, practical examples, exercises, and case studies that can be used effectively in the classroom. This course is truly designed to be a hands-on course, and we hope that instructors will try out some of the experiential learning techniques we present in this guide. We are quite open to new suggestions and comments, and we hope that instructors will give us feedback about both the text and the Instructor’s Guides so that we can continue to improve our teaching techniques. Each Instructor’s Guide contains the following:  Outline  Chapter Overview  Instructor Notes  Suggested Reading  Discussion, Review, and Essay Questions  Class Exercises  Teaching Tips (difficult concepts, teaching suggestions, suggestions for guest speakers, videos, etc.)

Examples of criminal justice interventions include gun control and regulation, sex offender legislation, juvenile waiver laws, and specialized problem-solving courts (community courts, drug courts, and domestic violence courts).

Planned change versus unplanned change: Any project, program, or policy, new or revised, intended to produce a change in some specific problem. It is limited in scope, it is aimed at improving quality of life for its clients, it includes a role for consumers, and a “change agent” guides it.

There are three approaches to planned change: (1) policy, (2) program, and (3) project.
