A MESSAGE FROM OUR MANAGING DIRECTOR As we approach the last quarter, I am filled with optimism. The resilience and commitment you have demonstrated give me confidence that we will finish this year on a high note. Moreover, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in 2024.
MR. TROY CADOGAN As we reflect on the year 2023 to date. It’s evident that it has brought its fair share of challenges. We underwent two significant cutover events in transitioning to D365. One in February and the most recent in September. Each of these transitions posed its own unique set of hurdles and while we encountered a few minor hiccups in February, I’m thrilled to announce that the cutover in September was a tremendous success.
Let’s continue to work together, overcome challenges, and seize new opportunities as we move forward. Your contributions are instrumental in our success, and I have no doubt that together we will achieve even greater milestones in the future. This second cutover marked the transition of AMTL to AMDI, our new distribution company. AMDI’s primary mission is to enhance the efficiency of ANSA McAL in Guyana. We remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering products and brands to our wholesale and retail customers in the most efficient, cost-effective manner, supported by brand management at World Class Standards”, Mr. Cadogan stated.
The ANSA McAL Group wishes to announce its strategic decision to streamline its business operations in Guyana to continue its path of a sustainable future and growth trajectory. Effective 1st September 2023, the Distribution operations at ANSA McAL Trading Limited (Guyana) (AMTL) will officially transition to ANSA McAL Distribution Inc. (AMDI). This move, according to Mr. Troy Cadogan, Managing Director, AMTL, will facilitate greater alignment with the strategic vision of the Group’s Distribution Sector and will benefit all stakeholders, in addition to the immeasurable contributions to Guyana’s economy.
For the past thirty years, AMTL has stood as the largest, most prominent, and constantly expanding distribution company in Guyana. The company will continue the operations of the Group with an emphasis on Real Estate Development in Guyana. The ANSA McAL Group has made exceptional contributions to the business and cultural landscape in Guyana and remains committed to the nation’s continuous development through each business sector in which it operates.

The AMDI Parkside Steel Orchestra is a non-profit organization formed in 1998 that seeks to provide opportunities for youths and young adults to have an enriching musical education and opportunities beyond what the local schools offer. Over the years, the band has established an impressive track record after winning the National Steelband Competition ten times (1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2016. BRING YOUR KIDS TO WORK 2023 From face painting to an exciting time on the trampoline in the sun, it is without a doubt that our kids had lots of fun! On August 18, 2023, AMDI hosted its annual “Bring your Kids to Work Day” which was enjoyed by over seventy (70) children. Every year, AMDI ensures that our beloved children have a chance to witness a dynamic work environment, learn from the hardworking staff, and enjoy an afternoon of fun and delight.

The kids showed off their artistic skills through painting, art and craft. They were treated with snacks and enjoyed being canvases, lathered with beautiful face painting. This promotion, as described by Brand Manager Phillip Persaud, is their way of expressing gratitude to the loyal customers who have steadfastly supported the brand over the years. While the initial step of the promotion is straightforward— customers merely need to place a packet of any size of Ariel Soap Powder in an envelope, along with their names and contact details— there's an additional exciting twist.

AMDI supports the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers’ Annual Back-to-School Drive Each year, the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers hosts an annual back-toschool drive that aims to provide underprivileged students in their community with the necessary supplies and clothing needed to start the new school year This year, AMDI supported this initiative by providing hygienic supplies for the children of the Sophia Home. “We firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for empowerment, and it is our mission to ensure that every child has equal access to educational resources,” wrote the secretary of the organization, Diane Woolford.

STUDENTS OF THE LAING AVENUE LEARNING CENTRE EXCEL AT THE 2023 NGSA AND CSEC EXAMINATIONS “[This] inspires me to continue,” she noted. “I'm thankful that God has placed me in a position to help them on this journey of betterment. They are breaking the generational curses of school dropouts and [generational curses] of not performing well at exams,” said Ms. Rowe.

There are people who sacrifice their best to ensure others achieve their greatest. Such examples are Ms. Florence Rowe and her sister Fiona DeJone of the Laing Avenue Learning Centre. Ms. Rowe’s residence was transformed to provide a safe space for children to learn and have access to all the tools needed to complete their Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) and National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).
Laing Avenue Learning Centre is an educational hub where CSEC students can visit to study, and access the internet to complete assignments, projects, and School Based Assessments (SBA). Students also receive guidance from both Ms. Rowe and Ms. De Jonge. As a result, there were outstanding performances by 4 students, who now proudly boast 100% passes in both Mathematics and English. These students are Jinelle Sumner, Akeelah DeJonge, Antwan Gravesande, and Gario John.
Ms. Rowe attributes her benevolent spirit to the influence of her mother’s charitable attitude and continues to demonstrate this through her persistence to see each child succeed. Antwan Gravesande, Jinelle Sumner, Akeelah DeJonge, and Gario John.

Juracie Austin from Parfaite Harmony received a placement at Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary while Amya Jones will be leaving St. Angela’s Primary and moving on to Lodge Secondary. Saidah Henry from St. Pius Primary will be heading to Lodge Secondary.
