NORDEN

Van Norden Meadow is adjacent to Lake Tahoe, surrounded by both snow-based tourism and increasing development. It is currently a US Forest Service site for high-altitude wet meadow restoration. This in-depth site analysis explores the meadow from a variety of scales, establishing the context of the next project, “Precipice”.

A DARK STAIN OF CONIFERS CREEPS FROM THE MARGINS.

NOT ALL TREES ARE BENIGN.

Van Norden is endangered by forest expansion. Though restoration efforts have sought to reverse these encroaching conifers, this intervention materializes undesirable trees into a dramatic broader allegory of undeniable human intrusion.
