CAPPING THE CROSS BRONX EXPRESSWAY

This project reimagines the Cross Bronx Expressway as a site of reconnection, transforming infrastructure into a layered public ground. Developed during my semester in New York City, the work began with an analysis of spaces like Domino Park, where design shapes public behavior, and evolved into a study of Bronx fence conditions, explored through a composite image across playgrounds, housing, and streetscapes.

This study reframes the fence not as a barrier, but as a layered system that defines boundaries, mediates safety, and structures how space is shared. These insights inform a continuous mesh structure that wraps the building and landscape, restoring connectivity and transforming a language of separation into a framework for gathering, play, and public life.

SITE: SYRACUSE, NY

Located in Syracuse, this block was developed in collaboration with two adjacent housing proposals and focuses on themes of healing, creativity, and community. The project introduces double-height studio spaces that support creative work while bringing additional light and spatial openness into the residential units. Operable façades allow residents to control ventilation and daylight while visually connecting interior spaces to the surrounding neighborhood.

An open ground level creates a porous base that encourages movement, gathering, and shared activity between residents and the broader community. By combining living, working, and communal spaces, the design reimagines everyday housing as a flexible environment that supports creativity, interaction, and collective growth.

CONTINUOUS PAVILION

SITE: SYRACUSE, NY

This project proposes a pavilion designed to exhibit the sculptures of Barbara Hepworth, drawing inspiration from the circular forms and spatial qualities present in her work. The pavilion’s geometry reflects these ideas, creating a continuous and immersive experience for visitors.

A central ramp guides circulation through the entire pavilion, allowing visitors to move gradually between exhibition spaces while maintaining visual connections to the sculptures. Within each gallery area, two ramps— one ascending and one descending—offer multiple pathways and viewpoints, encouraging visitors to experience the artwork from different perspectives. The design integrates circulation and exhibition to create a dynamic architectural journey through the pavilion.

ONE LOVE PROSTHETICS WORKSHOP

SITE: RWANDA, AFRICA

This project establishes a network of independent buildings unified by a shared overhead structure that promotes accessibility, openness, and inclusion. The overhead framework connects the different programs while allowing each building to maintain its own identity.

The interstitial spaces between buildings function as communal walkways and gathering areas, encouraging movement, interaction, and shared use across the site. Through the use of light, texture, and permeability, the architecture creates a welcoming environment that supports both privacy and community. The design ultimately reimagines care as an experience rooted in dignity, belonging, and collective interaction.

SPRING 2025 | SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY

SITE: SARDINIA, ITALY

Developed during my study abroad semester in Florence, Italy, this project explores how a school can function as a shared civic space beyond traditional school hours. The design repositions the playground as a connector between the school and its neighborhood, supporting both daily school activities and community use.

New roofs introduce a distinct architectural identity while integrating rainwater collection and solar infrastructure. Interactive window covers create adaptable daylight conditions and give the façade a more dynamic presence.

Platform extensions and flexible boundary spaces allow the campus to open for public gathering, recreation, and community programming, transforming the school into an active neighborhood hub.
