Volusia, a loggerhead sea turtle, was released into the Gulf of Mexico at Coquina Beach on Tuesday morning, and paddled out toward a rainbow that emerged from the clouds as she took off. She was found floating off Anna Maria Island on May 1, where she was having difficulty lifting her head to breathe. Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring transported Volusia to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where she was treated for air in her body cavity which affected her buoyancy. cindy lane | sun
