Her minimalism is durational, with color deepening, receding, and gathering at the periphery, suggesting an internal architecture shaped by time and visual perception.
Anke Blaue is a German painter whose practice centers on the use of antique linen as both surface and subject. Guided by the quiet geometry of linear intersections, Blaue’s work unites technical delicacy with the austere restraint of a single color and its shifting nuances of light. Through this disciplined minimalism, she reveals abstraction as a universal language of wholeness—a meditation on balance, presence, and the subtle interplay between material and perception.
Born in Schleswig, Germany, 1967, Blaue attended Werkkunstschule in Flensburg, Germany, and Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy. Subsequently, she studied abstract expressionism with Philip Pavia. Blaue went on to train at Kunstakademie, in Düsseldorf, Germany and the School of Universal Constructivism by TorresGarcía in Barcelona, studying with Bruno Fonseca . Following the artist‘s studies, she lived and worked in Barcelona and New York before returning to Germany, where she currently resides.
