Disguise Turkeys
Students in Mrs. Justina Grudzinski's Kindergarten class made disguises for their turkeys for Thanksgiving. Each child was given a turkey template to disguise with their family. They had to pick a costume for their turkey so that the turkey could go undercover for the holiday. The child also had to write about what their turkey is disguised as.

Marcus Kowalski
Marcus Kowalski is the son of Mike and Michelle Kowalski of Evans. He is a sixth-grade student at Lake Shore Middle School and has been selected as a CRC Citizen of the month for November 2015. In school, Marcus’s favorite subject is science. He is an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and participates in Art Club and Home and Careers Club. He is considering a career as a chef. Kowalski says his favorite thing in the world is animals. The character trait he feels is most important for continued success is perseverance.

Reason: Lake Shore Central School Board Denies Veterans School Tax Exemption
In December 2013 Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law (sect. 458 of the real property tax law) to give military Veterans a school tax exemption.
The law left it up to local school boards to also APPROVE the measure. At the October 22, 2015 Lake Shore School Board Meeting, a group of VETERANS from Evans VFW POST 5798 attended and URGED PASSAGE of the LAW. The president of the School Board read a letter stating that the BOARD HAD ALREADY DENIED ITS APPROVAL!!!
The following area school boards have APPROVED the Veterans exemption: Hamburg, Alden, Tonawanda City, Maryvale, Iroquois, Eden, North Collins, Niagara Wheatfield, Cheektowaga, Forestville, and Orchard Park.

November 17 was a date that most us will always remember. It was an epic snow storm that dropped 7 feet of snow in the Southtowns Catholic School parking lot. The storm left us out of school for almost 2 weeks as the snow melted and we had to dig out. Solve a Mystery
Students in Miss Annmarie Busha’s 4th grade, and Ms. Erica Aikin’s 8th grade were told that a machine that turns coal into diamonds in less than an hour has been stolen from the lab of Dr. Suzy Squeeze. Students then analyzed and tested all 6 pieces of evidence found at the crime scene. This includes fingerprints found on a glass, chromatography on a note the thief wrote about the crime, spilled liquid and powders and a strong smell found in the lab and some fibers also recovered in the area.
