Eden Boys Varsity Swim Team took third place at Lake Shore's Brockhurst Invitational meet 1/9/16. The team has a 6 and 1 record for the season so far with only 3 regular meets left on the schedule. Coach Millson is proud of this hard working team that will be sending several swimmers to ECIC this year.

I have had an amazing experience

being a part of Braymiller Market for 42 years. I met my husband of 40 years there, married him, had 4 wonderful daughters and now have 5 gorgeous grandsons and one on the way! Braymiller’s has been our way of life, and it is what we all know and love.

However, effective 1/1/2016, Stuart Green (new owner) and Dana Funke will be running the business. I know that I have found the perfect team, along with my entire staff, to keep the store going like it always has! I am so sad to leave, but I have 5½ great reasons to do so ... Jake, Oliver, Teddy, Will, Ben and to be determined! Excitement awaits, and I want to be a part of every moment.

A reminder that the winter season is coming. To avoid any misunderstanding or confusion, please be advised that the Town of Eden policy for replacement of a mailbox damaged beyond repair by a Town snowplow is the following: As a courtesy, the Town of Eden Highway Department will replace damaged mailboxes with a standard post and standard U.S. mailbox.

It is recommended that decorative mailboxes and those having sentimental value be temporarily replaced over the winter months by the homeowners. This policy applies only on roadways plowed by the Town of Eden Highway Department. Please have a safe winter motoring season. Thank you!

Agnes M. Scott

Agnes M. Scott, of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, passed January 12, 2016 at age 81. She was born August 24, 1934. Loving sister of Marybelle Santangelo, Lucille Tonemah, Arlette Gioffreda and the late Ulysses and Edwin Scott, Elaine Snow, Eileen Scott and Armenia Gordon; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends. Friends may call Saturday-Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Wentland Funeral Home, 10634 Main St. (Route 62), North Collins, where Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 AM. Agnes was a member of the Turtle Clan and past member of Seneca Singers.

Rebecca J. Todd

Rebecca J. Todd of Hamburg, NY formerly of Eden, passed January 9, 2016. She was born in 1954. Rebecca is survived by her brother, Elmer Hesse III, her nieces Jessica, Jillian and Jordana, her only daughter, Kathryn Langdon, her three grandchildren, Chloe, Evelyn, and Ryan and her lifelong friend Linda Bergmann. Rebecca dedicated much of her life to education, working at all levels in many local school districts. Throughout her career she taught at Eden Central Schools, Lakeshore Central Schools and Frontier Central Schools. She also was the Principal of Elma Primary School interim Assistant Superintendent at Iroquois and headed the Reading Recovery Program for the Iroquois Central School District. After gaining her certification as a Teacher Leader, she created a Reading Recovery site for Western New York and established training for those who were working toward their certification to teach the program. As the years progressed, 14 districts sent teachers to be trained and certified under Rebecca’s teaching. She was responsible for 43 educators that broadened their background with the program and in turn brought it back to their home districts to implement. Rebecca next became the principal of Highland Elementary in the Tonawanda City School district, which was was honored with the Blue Ribbon School Award in 2005. Rebecca then moved on to teaching college level courses at D’Youville and Medaille College

and was truly an asset to their programs. Her professional accolades include a “Service Award” from the Iroquois Central School District, WNY Teacher of the Year from Canisius College, Career Woman of the Year from Angola Business and Professional Women’s Association, and the President’s Service Award from Buffalo South Phi Delta Kappa. Rebecca was knighted by the Canadian Government for her work and service in the field of education. She was also published in American Educator Magazine. She had education in her blood, and the success of others was in turn her success as well. Children at any age could connect with her on a level rarely seen, and truly beautiful to behold. Rebecca’s efforts will live on in all the students her work benefitted and in the people that knew her as a warrior for reading. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at the Eden United Methodist Church, 2820 East Church Street, Eden, NY 14057 on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00PM. Beware of a group of people that are very negative to the growth and progress of our Town (Brant). These individuals like to spread untruths to propagate and foster their personal agendas of deceit and selfishness.

Remember, over my terms of office these past 10 years the town has prospered, despite these nay sayers’ actions to hinder our achievements. They questioned the free solar installment on our highway garage which has saved thousands of dollars. We beautified our Memorial Park and expanded and placed a playground at our town park. We renovated our Sr. / Community & Recreation buildings to name just a few achievements.

A great addition to our town was the purchase and renovation of the closed elementary school into our new town hall which cost $550,000 and it is completely paid off in 5 years. The nay sayers were against this project because they felt it was too much money and the upkeep would raise taxes. Must I remind everyone that our Town Taxes have gone down every single year for 9 straight years and we have not realized a problem with the upkeep.

One of the major projects that I worked on for 7 years was to bring public water to our community; unfortunately the Nay Sayers won out and stopped the program leaving many residents without pure water and the town lost 3 businesses that would have made Brant their home. This would have increased our tax base and employed 100 people if we would have had public water.

My dear friends don’t let this happen again. The purchase of the Lake Front Property will be a great asset for our community now and for future generations to enjoy. Don’t let these individuals rob the only opportunity for our children and grandchildren to enjoy a town beach and pristine natural park. The costs to the tax payers will be taken out of the taxes you already pay and there will not be an increase. The town has 1478 taxable properties and the cost is $650,000 over 20 years. The cost to the tax payer will be $21.99 per year, less than a steak dinner for 2. PLEASE VOTE YES February 8, 2016 at the Sr. / Community Center. I have never let you down, because I do care about you.
