There is only one race - the human race. Where did "racism" come from? Not the Bible but from the theory of evolution. In 1859 Charles Darwin wrote his famous book “The Origin of Species.” Did you know that was not the whole title? This may shock you but the title Darwin gave his book was: “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.” Did you catch the “favoured races” part? That is scary! His philosophy is taught today to the children of America who attend public schools at taxpayer expense. No alternative is taught. 89% of the children in our country attend public schools. Evolution is the theory that birthed racism. Not only did it birth racism, but it also promoted atheism. As the theory drove its roots down in the 1800's the symptoms of Nazism, imperialism, communism, fascism, etc. led to the bloodiest century ever - the 1900's. Why are we still teaching this stuff? NOTICE OF ANNUAL SCHOOL BUDGET MEETING BUDGET REFERENDUM AND ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School Budget Meeting (Public Hearing) for qualified district residents will be held in the Lake Shore Senior High School Library Media Center, 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
this budget requires a tax levy increase of 1.5% which exceeds the statutory tax levy increase limit of -1.36% for this school fiscal year and therefore exceeds the state tax cap and must be approved by sixty percent of the qualified voters present and voting.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the 2018-19 fiscal year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any District resident, during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the Annual Meeting (that is, beginning on May 1, 2018), except Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays, at the District Office, 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York or in each school building between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition. Each nominating petition shall be directed to the District Clerk, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, and shall state the residence of each signer, and shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Petitions shall be filed in the District Clerk’s Office located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except Holidays. RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District (the “District) is hereby authorized to purchase the following replacement vehicles for use by the District in the transportation of students and general use by the District: three (3) full size diesel-powered 71-passenger school buses at an estimated maximum cost of $120,276.07 each; one (1) 30-passenger gasoline-powered school bus at an estimated cost of $63,988.38; and one (1) 24-passenger gasoline-powered wheel chair school bus at an estimated cost of $75,040.26; for a total aggregate maximum cost of $499,856.85; with such aggregate cost to be raised by a tax upon the taxable property of the District to be levied and collected in annual installments as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefore, and, in anticipation of such tax, by the issuance of debt obligations of the District as may be necessary, not to exceed such maximum aggregate cost. No tax levy increase is anticipated for Proposition No. 2. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee ballots may be obtained Monday through Friday, except holidays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the District Clerk’s Office located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York. The Ellis canning company on Ellis Road in Brant, N.Y. began in a barn that was purchased and transported by horsepower on wheels to the closest source of water - the creek and Giambrone’s pond. The cannery grew from 1900 to 1923 and was operated by Joseph Ellis Sr. with his sons, Jack, Samuel and Joseph Ellis Jr. The cannery canned a variety of fruits and vegetables, such as beans, tomatoes, pears and apples. The cannery operated until the fall of 1924. It flourished, but at the close of World War I, canned goods for the U.S. Army were no longer needed, and soon there was a depression, causing the factory to close. It was the forerunner of many small canning factories in this area. The factory employed many people in the area during the summer months including those like Mayor Frank A. Sedita of Buffalo, John L. George-attorney and others. Their goals at the time were to earn money to go to college. Busch was initiated at State University of New York at Cortland. Busch is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction. Lake Shore Freshman Academy Hosts Annual March Madness Fun Night
During the final week of March, the Lake Shore Freshman Academy hosted its Annual March Madness Fun Night for the class of 2021. Approximately 160 students attended the free event hosted by the class officers and 25 members of the senior class. Students played a variety of sports, games, video game activities and sang karaoke while enjoying snacks. The event even hosted a March Madness styled 3-on-3 basketball tournament with over 12 teams competing. Pictured: Freshmen students enjoying the camaraderie of the Annual Fun Night. Laura Patterson inducted into social service fraternity at CCU
Laura Patterson, a marine science from Angola, NY, was inducted into Coastal Carolina University's chapter of Phi Sigma Pi, a social service fraternity on campus. This year's ceremony inducted 48 new members who met the requirements to join. Phi Sigma Pi is a gender-inclusive fraternity that focuses on scholarship, leadership and fellowship. Southtowns Catholic School Tours Darwin Martin House
Students in Mrs. Walkowski's Grades 6 & 7 Art Classes toured the Darwin Martin House in Buffalo, NY. The took the "Art Glass of the Martin House tour: Architecture is art!" They Explored the unique art glass windows at the site and created their own art glass template back in the classroom. The Darwin D. Martin House Complex was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built between 1903 and 1905. It was built for Darwin D. Martin, his wife and family.
