Robert J. Brownell of Angola, NY and Campobello SC, entered into rest April 9, 2018, age 36. Husband of Tess L. (Corieri) Brownell; loving father of Natalie Brownell; dearest son of Cheryl (Guy) Lepsch and the late Donald (Robin Fiegl) Brownell; brother of Don (Elizabeth), Aaron and the late Clifford Brownell. Family will be present to receive friends Friday, April 20, 2018 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the Addison Funeral Home Inc., Angola, NY where services will be held Saturday at 11 AM. Robert served in the US Army from 2007- 2014 and was a combat infantry veteran of Afghanistan where he earned a Medal of Valor under enemy fire. Joseph “Joe” Tripi Jr., 70, formerly of Brant, NY, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2018, at Mount Carmel House Hospice in Hilton, NY. He is survived by his sister Bonita; brother Robert; and many loving relatives and friends. Joe was a standout athlete at Lake Shore Central High School in Angola, NY, where he helped lead the Eagles in 1965 to their first unbeaten, untied football season in school history. He went on to play football, basketball and lacrosse in Geneva, NY at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where he graduated in 1972. In 2005, Joe was inducted into the Evans-Brant Sports Hall of Fame. For several years, Joe was employed by the State of New York, where he worked with mentally challenged children, including at the former Canandaigua Transitional Home. He was a strong supporter and coordinator of the Special Olympics in the Finger Lakes region. Upon retirement, Joe took great pleasure in playing golf, bowling, hunting and enjoying time with former classmates and other friends. When he wasn't on a golf course or hunting, he would spend time tending to his large garden. Memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel House Hospice, 288 Frisbee Hill Road, Hilton, NY 14468. __________

Gog is a reference to Russia. “The Chief Prince” comes from the Hebrew word “Roshe” from which we get Russia. Meshech and Tubal are believed to be leading industrial cities in Russia today known as Moscow and Tobolsk. We see here that God is against them because they attack Israel from the North (Moscow is almost directly north of Jerusalem). If you study all of Ezekiel 38 and 39 you will see a confederate of Communist and Muslim nations surround little Israel and attack them. God will come to Israel’s aid and 5/6 of these nations’ military forces will be destroyed. Today we see Russia meddling in everything including Syria, Israel’s neighbor to the north. When will this prophecy come down? “In the latter days.” (Ezekiel 38:16). “In the later years.” (Ezekiel 38:8) Ezekiel wrote all this about 2605 years ago. How? By the inspiration of God who knows everything! Things are happening. Be sure you are ready to meet the Lord.

Brant School #2, Milestrip Road, Brant, N.Y. Lower Room, 1935-36

The Brant school #2 was located on Milestrip Road in the town of Brant. Our historical society has some record books regarding Brant #2, which list $3,140.00 as the total expected expenses for the 1939-1940 school year. Of this $3,140.00, the highest budgeted expenses included: teacher’s wages at $1,900.00, school supplies $75.00, coal $160.00, janitor wages $200.00, Electric & Gas $65.00, repairing $125.00 and Bonds & Interest $325.00. No longer employed as a school, the sturdy brick building still stands today, but it is currently an apartment building. Students shown in the 1935-1936 photo are: Front row (L to R): Sally Scalise, Anthony Fricano, Virginia Estee, Marie DiPiazza, Clarabell Holth, Pauline DiPiazza, Marylyn Taylor, William Estee, Frankie Tallchief. Back row (L to R): Norton Case, Carlton Stanley Conklin, Louis Scalise, Henry Earl Conklin, Robert Taylor, Charlie DiPiazza, Richard Reynolds. Their teacher was a local Brant girl - Louise Krull. Louise’s parents were William Krull Jr. and Minnie Heiden Krull. In our 175th year anniversary book, we learned from Louise’s daughter Joan Lemmler Will that the family lived on Milestrip Road, Brant NY, on the 100 acre farm that they had purchased from the Harrison Christy family. Louise and her sisters, Martha, Hilda and Christine all became teachers! Christine (Krull) Carbeck along with Louise (Krull) Lemmler both began teaching at the Milestrip school, which was just down the road from the farm. Christine went on to teach 2nd grade in the new elementary school in Brant. Contributed by the Brant-Farnham Historical Society __________
Southtowns Catholic School Cereal Box Book Report
Mrs. Cassi Chudzik's Grade 3 class made book reports a little more fun. The students had to read a book and then make a box of cereal based on the book. They had to invent a name for the cereal that is related to the title of the book and sounds like a cereal. On the back, they had to write down phrases that would grab the readers attention. T h e se Students Help a City Pig with STREAM Activity
Kendall Szafnicki's kindergarten class at SS. Peter & Paul School in Hamburg was challenged to build a structure to help a city pig without access to mud stay out of the sun so he wouldn't get sunburned. The students were given a white bag with the same materials and instructions and asked to work cooperatively to build their structure. Everyone had a good time and created together and presented their structures to their classmates explaining how and why they created the way they did. Lake Shore High School Model UN Club Takes First Place at General Assembly
Last March, the Lake Shore Model United Nations team competed in the Model United Nations General Assembly at the University at Buffalo. Over 637 students from 30 area high schools took part in event as student delegates represented 55 countries drawing up resolutions, negotiating and debating global issues following the same procedures used at the UN. Lake Shore students represented the county of Ireland, and were awarded first place for their resolution addressing the world refugee crisis. A great reward for a job well done! As mentioned in prior articles, the town of Brant farmers required laborers to help with the fruit and vegetable crops during the planting, growing and harvesting seasons. Seasonal use housing and facilities were available on almost all of the local family farms for the workers. Recently, Dr. Thomas Witakowski, a SUNY College at Buffalo State professor, joined the Lake Shore Symphonic orchestra as a guest conductor to help students prepare for NYSSMA pieces at their upcoming performance in April. Dr. Witakowski’s has appeared with the Indiana Opera Theatre as the lead role of Nick Shadow in Stravinsky's The Rake’s Progress, and many other musical pieces. He recently studied at Warsaw University for a year to before returning to Buffalo. Witakowski currently runs the Symphonic Orchestra and generously offered his time to the Lake Shore ensemble for an hour and a half rehearsal. Dr. Witakowski’s presence was most definitely valued, and it was an honor to work with him. Sophomore Gavin Ingrao summed up the orchestra’s experience, “A great man like him will surely help us get gold!
