Richard Martin Ptak

Richard Martin Ptak, age 52, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Eden, New York, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following a brief illness. He was the beloved son of the late Stanley and Ida Ptak and the youngest of their six children. Rick grew up in Eden and was a graduate of Eden High School and Buffalo State College. During his college years, he worked at Buffalo State’s radio station, 91.3 WBNY, combining his love of music with his college experience. He continued to have a special connection to Buffalo, and when he returned to visit, he would reconnect with these places. Rick was never afraid to follow his own path. One chapter of his life that he especially treasured was his time living in Los Angeles. Los Angeles gave Rick the opportunity to experience something different and build memories that stayed with him. After spending time living in Los Angeles, Rick found his calling as a professional long-haul truck driver with CFI. As a million-mile trucker, he traveled extensively across the United States and Canada, often sharing stories of his time on the road. More recently, he worked remotely in IT. Rick had a lifelong love of music and treasured his collection of guitars, including a prized 12-string guitar. He was also a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. No matter how far from Western New York he traveled, Rick’s Buffalo roots remained an important part of his life. Rick will be deeply missed by his siblings, Steven Ptak, Carol (David) Ornowski, Timothy Ptak, Barbara (Bill) Fedchak, and David (Judy) Ptak; 10 nieces and nephews; 6 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins and friends.

Rodger Knapik

Rodger Knapik, of Angola, New York, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on November 11, 1940, Rodger was the son of the late Frank and Bertha Knapik. He was a beloved father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, and friend who loved his family deeply. Rodger was the loving father of Kevin (Donna) Knapik, Paul (Tina) Knapik, and Kimberly Knapik. He was incredibly proud of his children and spoke about them often, always making sure those around him knew just how much he loved them. He was the cherished grandfather to Brittney (Ryan) Strazisar, Christopher (Michelle) Eldridge, Easton Mosier and Hayden Holden. A very proud great-grandfather to Mariah Strazisar, Addison Strazisar, Rylee Strazisar, Lydia Eldridge, Lilliana Eldridge, and Harper. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, spending time with his family meant the world to him. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph Knapik, Bob, Arlene, Christine, and Gary.

Rodger enjoyed the simple things that made life special. He had a love for Ford cars, a good plate of spaghetti, and never passed up the opportunity to visit a garage sale. He especially enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends. Anyone who went out to eat with Rodger knew there had better be a coupon ready to use. Those little traditions, along with his love for his family, are memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. More than anything, Rodger will be remembered for the love he had for his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a source of great pride and happiness throughout his life. Although he will be deeply missed, the stories, laughter, traditions, and memories he leaves behind will continue to be shared by those who loved him. His family will forever carry him in their hearts.
