Tina Osei of Lake View has completed the Leadership Development Program through the University of Maryland Global Campus chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success during the 2025-26 academic year. Tina D. Law of the Cattaraugus Seneca Territory, Beaver Clan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family; she was 66. Born on October 5, 1959, in Buffalo, NY, to Sheila (John) Law and Charles Law Sr. Loving mother of Taran Law, Tyler (Shayna) Law, and Taylor (Brad) Thompson. Cherished grandmother of Aiden, Yazmin, Mykai, Mylia, Mylik, Mykal, Zayda, Bradley Jr., and Ira. Sister of William (Carmen) Law, Terry (Jaclyne) Law, Rick (Helen) Law, Cindy (Tom) Raab, Phil (Michele) Law, and the late Shawn (Chris) Caputi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was a valued friend to many, especially her companion Dexter. A dedicated employee of the Seneca Nation, Tina touched many lives and hearts of the children, elders, and everyone in between. She enjoyed music, traveling, collecting and caring for her plants, and the ups and downs of being a Bills Fan. A funeral luncheon will follow services at the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Volunteer Fire Hall.
Darl Douglas, of Angola, NY, passed away on August 3, 2026, at home with his family at the age of 71. He was born on October 2, 1954, to Clarence and Dolly Douglas. Darl was the oldest of 10 children, consisting of 8 boys and 2 girls, and he took that position seriously. He started dating his next-door neighbor, Alice Wiley, when he was 15 years old and went on to marry her in October of 1972. Growing up and old with her, they created a tight family circle and created many memories along the way with family and friends during those 56 years. As much as he enjoyed being a father to his two daughters, the role of Papa made him happiest.
The family will be present for visitation on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 3PM – 7PM at the Addison Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10AM in Hilltop Baptist Church, 985 Church Rd. Angola, NY. Please assemble at church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Darl’s name be made to Hospice Foundation, PO Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240, or give online at hospicebuffalo.com.
As with everything, Darl approached his jobs seriously and attentively. Darl worked odd farm jobs as a child, picking different crops. He went on to work with Lavin & Sons Construction, along with his father and his brother Ron, starting at around 13 years old and continuing until 1974. He switched over to working as a meat cutter in the Hamburg Super Duper and continued until 1989. At this time, he was a New York State Correctional Officer until his retirement in 2014. In his retirement, he worked on never-ending projects, usually for the benefit of his 4 grandchildren whom he was so proud of. From 19741989, he was part of the Angola Fire Company, in which he held various officer positions and played in the softball league. He and Alice were part of a couple’s bowling league for many years and participated in Frank Bergum’s archery with his family for a short time. Darl was an avid outdoorsman, and many will remember bringing their deer to him for processing and meeting the extended family. After retirement, Darl was often found taking on another project around the house or finding another way to entertain the grandchildren. It is no surprise that he was working around his yard and hosting right up until the end.

Lake Shore Graduate Swims the Arctic Circle in International Open-Water Event
1984 alumnus Chris Martin and daughter Caroline cross two countries and a time zone during 3km midnight race
On July 12, Chris Martin, a 1984 graduate of Lake Shore Central and former captain of the LSC Eagle Rays varsity swim team, joined his daughter Caroline in Swimac 2026, a unique open-water swimming event on the swift-moving Torne River between Finland and Sweden.
Starting from the Finnish shore at 12:05 a.m., participants not only swam across the border between Sweden and Finland, but also crossed the Arctic Circle and an international time zone. Because the event begins just after midnight and crosses into a time zone one hour earlier, swimmers who complete the 3-kilometer course in under 55 minutes technically finish the race the day before they begin.
The 2026 event included 168 participants in the crisp, 62.5-degree river. Chris participated with his daughter, Caroline, who swam at Brockport Central and collegiately at Nazareth University. Chris finished the race in 34:45, placing eighth in the men's division, while Caroline finished in 33:11, taking third place in the women's division.
As a member of the LSC Eagle Rays varsity swim team, Chris ranked in the top 10 in the section and top five in the Erie County Interscholastic Conference (ECIC) in the breaststroke. Upon graduating from Lake Shore, he attended the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he majored in imaging science and captained the Tiger Shark varsity swim team. Chris graduated from RIT as the school record holder in the 100-yard breaststroke and as a member of the record-setting 400-yard medley relay team. During his tenure at RIT, he earned Athlete of the Week honors on multiple occasions, including twice as a senior.
Chris graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Imaging Science and continued his education, receiving a Master of Science in Computer Science from RIT and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2007. A father of two adult sons, Liam and Ryan, as well as his daughter and swim partner Caroline, Chris is a Director of Program Management at L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, where he resides with his wife, Kim.
