Norman R. Tolsma of Angola, NY, age 77, entered into rest April 19, 2026 in his Angola home, surrounded by friends and family. Norm was the loving husband of 44 years to Suzanne (nee Telego) Tolsma; father of Casey Tolsma and the late Jimmie Tolsma; grandfather of Seth Tolsma; son of the late Carson and Ruth Tolsma. Norm was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving our country during the Viet Nam era, he also passionately served our community giving 10 years of service with the Newton Abbott Fire Company and 41 years of service with the Angola Fire Dept. Norm was also an employee of General Motors for 31 years and enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. Family will be present to receive friends Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10AM to 1PM at the Addison Funeral Home, Inc. where services will follow at 1PM.
William “Bill” Schoetz, 80, of Morgantown, WV passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. Born on July 6, 1945, in Lackawanna, NY, Bill was the son of Howard Schoetz and Agnes (Fierle) Schoetz. He was raised in Angola, New York alongside his sister, Linda Muscato, who preceded him in death. Bill dedicated his career to helping others as a physical therapist. His work took him to Nantucket Island, Hilton Head Island, and he finished his career in Morgantown, WV. He devoted 20+ years of service to Ruby Memorial Hospital retiring as a director of physical therapy. Bill spoke proudly of his sons and the lives they built. He is survived by his son, Nathan Schoetz, his wife Vanessa, and their children, Braxton, and Jackson, of Lexington, KY; and his son Alex Schoetz of Wilmington, NY. An avid golfer, Bill cherished his annual golf trips with his “golfing buddies” and playing at the Pines. He will be missed by his special friend, Joanie Will, of Dunkirk, NY. They had known each other most of their lives and rekindled their relationship eight years ago. His absence will be felt by his nieces and nephews, Tony (Lisa) Muscato, David Muscato, Mary (Jim) Brumagin, Joan Muscato, and their families. He often shared stories of growing up with his cousin, Tom Fierle, and they remained in contact throughout their lives. A private family service will be held to honor Bill. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School Budget Meeting (Public Hearing) for qualified district residents will be held in the Lake Shore High School Library Media Center, 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School Budget Referendum and Election for (1) approval of the Annual School District Budget for the 2026-27 School Year; (2) voting on a proposition regarding the purchase of replacement vehicles; (3) the election of two qualified district residents to the office of Member of the Board of Education; and (4) for the transaction of such other business as is authorized by law, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., in the Lobby located outside the District Office/Gymnasium of the Lake Shore High School located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York 14006.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the 2026-27 fiscal year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any District resident beginning May 5, 2026 through and including May 19, 2026, excluding weekends and holidays, in the main office of each school building between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

RESOLVED, that the budget for the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education in the amount of $69,350,011 is hereby approved and adopted and the required funds therefore are hereby appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law. Adoption of this budget requires an anticipated 1.46% property tax increase, which does not exceed the statutory tax levy increase limit of 1.46%.

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District (the “District”) is hereby authorized to purchase the following replacement vehicles for use by the District in the transportation of students and general use by the District: one (1) 7-passenger gasoline SUV at an estimated cost of $38,450; one (1) 30-passenger gasoline school bus at an estimated cost of $125,563.81; one (1) 24-passenger gasoline school bus with five (5) wheelchair positions at an estimated cost of $147,209.20; and one (1) medium-duty truck with a snowplow and salt spreader at an estimated cost not to exceed $180,000; for a total aggregate maximum estimated cost of $491,223.01; with such aggregate cost to be raised by a tax upon the taxable property of the District to be levied and collected in annual installments as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefore, and, in anticipation of such tax, by the issuance of debt obligations of the District as may be necessary, not to exceed such maximum aggregate cost. No tax levy increase is anticipated for Proposition No. 2.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee ballots and applications for early mail ballot may be obtained Monday through Friday, except holidays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the District Clerk’s Office located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York. Candidates must enter through the main entrance of the High School. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk or her designee at least seven (7) days before the annual meeting and election (May 12, 2026) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or by the day before the election (May 18, 2026) if the ballot is to be issued to the voter in person. Completed absentee ballots and early mail ballots must be received by the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2026.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may apply for a military ballot. Applications for military ballots may be obtained from the District Clerk’s Office and the military voter may designate a preference to receive the application and/or the military ballot by mail, fax or email. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk or her designee by no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots are issued will be available for public inspection between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the office of the District Clerk on the five days prior to the annual meeting and election, except Sundays, and such list will be available at the polling place during the annual meeting and election. Any qualified voter may, upon examination of such list, file a written challenge of the qualifications as a voter of any person whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for such challenge.
