The region is officially moving forward with a funded project to reduce Big Sister Creek flooding and ice jams near Route 5
The Plan:
• Study and likely redesign or alter the creek channel downstream of the Route 5 bridge.
• The goal is to reduce flooding caused by ice jams, water backing up, flooding homes, debris clean-up, emergency responses and road closures.
• Build an access road so crews can get in for construction now and maintenance later.
The Funding: Federal, State, Local. Also, pending approval of grants through NYSDEC.
The Timing:
Anticipated to occur near or at the end of the bridge replacement in April 2029. Your voice is important!

We will march to the Forest Avenue Cemetery for special services and then back to the Angola Fire Hall grounds at 41 Commercial Street. ANNUAL VOTE & ELECTION RESULTS
The Lake Shore Central School District has finalized the official results of the vote held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. District residents cast their ballots for the 2026–27 Annual Budget Vote, the Vehicle Purchase Referendum, and the Board of Education Election.
Both propositions on the ballot were approved by district voters:
• Proposition #1 (2026–27 Budget): The proposed budget passed with 401 yes votes to 161 no votes.
• Proposition #2 (Vehicle Purchase Referendum): The referendum passed with 434 yes votes to 131 no votes.
In the Board of Education election, three candidates campaigned for two open seats, each carrying a three-year term. Incumbent Michael Franey and candidate Gary Vassallo secured the two positions on the board, receiving 437 votes and 306 votes, respectively. Candidate Martha Mangan finished the evening with 238 votes.
