A service to honor his life will be held on Friday, March 27 at 11am, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Gold Street, Angola, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to USO, St. Jude, or Roswell Park, in recognition of his lifelong commitment to caring for others. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the family he cherished, the values he instilled, and the memories he created.

Jim built a lifelong career in public service. Early on, he worked as a counselor at Roswell Park, offering light and comfort to patients and families facing the hardships of cancer. He later served as a program coordinator at Father Baker and went on to become the Public Health Administrator for Chautauqua County. He eventually retired from the not‑for‑profit sector after years of dedicated service to patients, staff, and the communities he cared so deeply about. His steady leadership, compassion, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of countless families.
Outside of his work, he found happiness in the simple and meaningful joys of life. He loved the serenity of Cape Cod, the magic and tradition of Disney, and the peaceful pleasure of tending to flowers and gardens. These were the places and activities where he felt most at home, and where his family will always picture him. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Totaro; beloved children Robbie (deceased), Scott (Melissa) Duquin, Martin Totaro, and Bethany (PJ) de Barros; and his two beloved grandsons Zachary and Dominick—who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
