In 2016 I started my first business, Peaceful Soul Farmers Market.
From that, I turned my passion into my next business venture : Azalia’s Juicery, where I utilized the farmers, makers and bakers
from the market to source the supplies for my juices and meals.
Now in my 8th year of business with the Juicery, I’ve grown from a 10’X10’ sub-kitchen to a 1,200 square foot cafe in the quaint Village of Angola. Not only did we expand in space, but also what we have to offer. In addition to our signature cold-pressed juices & award winning Grab & Go Cooler with immune-boosting breakfasts, nutrient-dense lunches, deliciously prepared dinners & convenient after-school snacks, we also feature an all day brunch menu, made to order, using only the freshest of ingredients. Our catering portion of the Juicery has grown substantially in the last few years. We proudly serve a wide range of clients, from small pick-up orders to large, elaboarte set-ups for local businesses and weddings. Lake Shore Students Take a Stand for Red Ribbon Week District-wide activities highlight commitment to healthy, drug-free lifestyles
Lake Shore Central School District students, staff, and families joined together October 23–31 for Red Ribbon Week 2025, a national campaign promoting drug-free living. The highlight came on Tuesday, October 28, when dozens of students and staff lined Route 5 during 10th period for “Take a Stand Day,” wearing red and holding signs to show their support for healthy choices. The initiative was led by Lake Shore Middle School’s Community Service & Volunteering Club, Leaders in Training, and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). Elementary schools participated in themed activities, while the high school organized its own awareness events, ensuring the effort reached students district-wide. “This was a powerful reminder that our students are leaders in our community in many ways, including promoting safe, healthy lifestyles,” said Phil Johnson, Superintendent of Schools. “Their energy, teamwork, and pride reflect Lake Shore’s ongoing commitment to supporting every student’s well-being across Lake Shore.” In addition to the demonstration, students and staff engaged in daily activities throughout the week, using theme days and classroom discussions to reinforce positive decision-making. Parents, students, and community members praised the event for its visibility and impact. The district plans to continue highlighting student leadership throughout the rest of the week, which a schedule of interactive, fun, and educational programming. Megan Zakeri earns scholarship at Baldwin Wallace University
Megan Zakeri of Lake View was among 733 students who earned named scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall. Zakeri, a graduate of Frontier Senior High School, majoring in music education, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship. BW has a long history of scholarship support from alumni, faculty, trustees and friends. Over 475 named scholarships provide more than $5 million to help students attend, persist and graduate from BW. In addition, they carry on the donors' legacies through the lives of the students who receive their support. The scholarships vary in requirements, with many specifying financial need, a course of study, involvement on campus or a commitment to excellence in a particular field. Recently, we were browsing through the photos taken over 100 years ago by Brant photographer Lynn Walters. A motorcycle with sidecar caught our eye. We wondered about the emblem. What brand of motorcycle was this? We don’t know who the young lady is, and we are guessing that the photo was taken in Brant, NY. Around the same time, in the photos on loan to us by the Estate of William Haberer, we found a photo of a motorcycle which had the same emblem. We believe this photo was taken on Main Street in the village of Angola, but once again, the person in the photograph is not identified. Both photos raised our curiosity about the emblems and the type of motorcycles, so we decided to spend some time investigating on-line. (We were hoping they were the Emblem Brand motorcycles made in Angola, NY at the Emblem Mfg. Company, but sadly they were not.) For the Brant photo, we determined it is an Excelsior Twin Autocycle with sidecar (circa 1911 – 1917). The bike in the Angola photo is also an Excelsior. The manufacturer is the Excelsior Motor and Equipment Co., Chicago, Ill. USA. Not only for recreational use, these types of motorcycles were also used by the New York National Guard in 1917 according to a few of the articles we came across. (There is a lot of information out there!) We were also intrigued by the treads on the tires, and found out that they are NON-SKID tires (the letters are quite visible), American made in Akron, Ohio, by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. In all our searching, we uncovered another fun fact: The Excelsior Company developed the first motorcycle capable of reaching 100mph. Pretty cool!!
