WHIPLASH

K-pop girl group aespa is aiming to follow up its hit song “Supernova” with a string of hits with its new album “Whiplash."

Management agency SM Entertainment announced on Monday that aespa will release its fifth mini album “Whiplash” on Oct. 21.

The album will feature six songs of various genres, including the title track of the same name.

Aespa plans to continue the successful vibe of its previous works with music with a unique color.

The title track “Supernova” from her first full-length album “Armageddon,” which was released in May, was a huge success, topping the weekly charts on music platform Melon for 15 consecutive weeks.

In addition to the release of the new album, aespa will also be expanding its world tour “SYNK: PARALLEL LINE” to North and South America and Europe.

The physical versions comes in 14 versions: five Beat versions, five Speed versions, and four individual SMini versions.

"Whiplash" is described as an EDM-based dance song featuring an intense and fast-paced bass and house beat, and as it is the first technostyle song to challenge themselves since their debut, you can see aespa's limitless musical growth as they constantly challenge themselves.

"Kill It" is a hip-hop dance song with catchy signature synths and gorgeous vocals, expressing a message of warning to those who criticize without a reason with strong raps and vocals, and IMLAY, a DJ and producer of SM Entertainment's dance music label ScreaM Records, participated in the composition and arrangement of the song.

"Pink Hoodie" is described as a hiphop dance song with a unique synth sound and an energetic bassline, with lyrics that wittily express the message of being confident and loving yourself for who you are.

"Flights, Not Feelings" is a R&B song with a vintage yet mysterious track sound and dreamy vocals. The lyrics is about letting go of negative feelings, living freely and enjoying life.

"Flowers" is described as an alternative R&B song with a sophisticated guitar riff. The lyrics compare the feeling of falling in love to flowers.

"Just Another Girl" is a pop rock song with a rough guitar sound and refreshing vocals. It delivers a warning message while letting go of a betrayed lover with a refreshing heart.

æspa, is a 4-member South Korean girl group under SM Entertainment, consisting of Karina, Giselle, Winter, and NingNing. They made their Korean debu on November 17, 2020, with the digital single, “Black Mamba“. They made their Japanese debut on July 3, 2024 with the single, “Hot Mess“. On June 2, 2022, it was announced that aespa has signed with Warner Records for global promotions.

Fandom Name Explanation: Their name comes from combining “æ,” derived from “Avatar X Experience,” & “aspect.” The meaning behind the name is various innovative activities to come with the theme of “experiencing a new world via the encounter of the ‘avatar,’ your other self.” Official Greeting: “Be my ae! Hi, we are æspa!”
