For this project, I have chosen to focus on Batik Air, a local airline brand, with the goal of exploring opportunities for rebranding. By studying Batik Air’s history and current business model, and drawing inspiration from Singapore Airlines, this research aims to identify strategies to enhance the brand's identity and market presence.

A self-reflection on the design concept reveals that it goes far beyond the form and shape of a design. It encompasses deeper elements that can redefine and transform a brand. Design is not just about aesthetics, it's an opportunity to rebrand, rethink, and redesign the essence of a brand. When working with an existing colonial building, the challenge is to merge its historical significance with contemporary elements, creating a cohesive piece of modern heritage.
This rebranding effort not only breathes new life into the brand but also introduces a new business model that can revitalize the existing site. The rebrand brings with it new services, experiences, and offerings that attract a broader audience, infusing the site with fresh energy and purpose. By integrating these new elements with the site's historical architecture, the rebrand ensures that the location evolves without losing its identity, creating a dynamic space where the past and present coexist harmoniously.
This approach allows design to become a tool for storytelling and brand evolution, where the traditional architecture is seamlessly integrated with innovative design. By considering how design impacts user experience, conveys identity, and communicates values, we create something that is not only visually appealing but also meaningful and impactful. This holistic perspective pushes the boundaries of what a brand can represent, transforming both the brand and the building into a living testament to history and modernity, while also setting the stage for future growth and success.
