UPDATE FROM PARK WEST Dear family members and friends of Andrews of Park West, We had a great December at our home with lots of Christmas activities, seasonal treats and celebrating. January promises to be a busy month at our home with noodleball, basketball, crafts and live music. With 2023 behind us, I’d like to wish all our residents and their families a wonderful new year. Holiday celebrations Our residents celebrated the season all through December, with activites like gingerbread house competitions, festive musical performances and visits from Little Ducklings daycare and École François-Buote.

ANDREWS COOKBOOK SUGAR COOKIES
In every family there's that one dish that mom or dad makes better than anyone else in the world. Maybe it's dad's chili recipe, or mom's secret to perfect ginger snap cookies. These dishes and desserts become family legend, favourites at holiday parties, birthdays or family dinners. The recipes are often passed down through generations and become a part of a family's story. We wanted to share those stories. Every month we feature a different recipe submitted by one of our residents. This month we feature a sugar cookie recipe from resident Wanda Ings.

Sugar Cookies
Ingredients 1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 egg 3 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup of milk
Directions Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Roll into thin layer of dough and cut into desired shapes. Baked in preheated 350 F degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool on a baking sheet before serving or decorating.

ABOVE & BEYOND DECEMBER WINNER Every month our team and residents recognize one team member for showing exceptional care
Donna was recognized for going above and beyond. Our Above and Beyond winner for December is Donna LeClair. Donna consistently goes beyond the call of duty for our residents and her fellow team members. We appreciate everything she does and are lucky to have her at Andrews of Park West. Donna began working as a caregiver and shift supervisor at Andrews in 2011. Prior to joining Andrews, she worked in banking for approximately 30 years. Like all of our team members, she is passionate about senior care. “I love my work,” she said. “I enjoy interacting with the residents and putting a smile on their faces.” Outside of work, Donna keeps busy spending time with her grandchildren.
