COMUNIDAD
ARTESANAL ACADEMY
Design IV | Spring 2024
San Antonio College
The Comunidad Artesanal Academy was designed to foster the community of historic Cattleman’s Square, most specifically the day laborers, providing opportunities for educational growth and steady employment. The design revitalizes these mission compounds, designed around a central courtyard with the program encircling it, and includes multiple points of entry and hierarchal space planning. The goal was to create a tight-knit community like that of a family within the academy while still being inviting and embracing to the rest of Cattleman’s Square and San Antonio.

ARTIST’S RETREAT ON THE RIVER
Design III | Fall 2023
San Antonio College
Artist’s Retreat on the River was designed for two sculpture artists, Alejandro Beuvrin and Zemer Peled, to have work studios and residences on a quiet property off the San Antonio River in Texas. The forms were derived from themes of memory, identity, and place, calling back to the sculptures of these artists and the location of the site. The property features public gallery spaces for the artists to display their work as well has the separate artist residences complete with indoor and outdoor working studios. The design works around the existing trees on the property, and creates separation between the public and private areas.

THE JOURNEY ATLANTA IMMIGRATION CENTER
In collaboration with Kelly Pharis Design IV | Spring 2024 San Antonio College
The Journey Center is designed to echo the difficult path many immigrants must take in order to pursue better opportunities in the U.S. Nestled on the edge of Atlanta’s downtown area, the center is framed to the west by Centennial Olympic Park. From all angles The Journey inspires visitors to climb ever upwards, reflecting the immigrants’ endeavor towards a better life. A hierarchical structuring of spaces reflects that opportunities are paramount to success.

CON SAFO ART MUSEUM
Design III | Fall 2023
San Antonio College
Located in downtown San Antonio just off the river walk, the Con Safo art museum is dedicated to the art of the Con Safo group and Chicano art movement here in San Antonio. The concept was to create a monument that protrudes out into the urban landscape, demanding attention. The exterior is covered in a screened perforated facade that incorporates art from the group. The program features permanent galleries for the four of the founding members of the Con Safo group, as well as temporary galleries, sculpture gardens and a cafe.

MUSEUM OF EXTINCTION
Design V | Fall 2024
Texas Tech University
Located along the bank of the Trinity River in Fort Worth, the Museum of Extinction memorializes the old path of the trinity river as a fossil of the site and restores naturalization. Suspended above the site, this minimal impact design will evoke a sense of bridging over time, as the structure honors the past without intruding upon it. The program features two gallery spaces for housing fossils as well as a retail space, cafe and auditorium.
