Interlaceemergesfromthelandscapeasacivicthresholdwhere architecture,movement,anddialoguearewovenintoasharedpublic experience.Connectingtheparkandtheschoolthroughmultipleaccess pointsandcontinuouscirculation,thebuildingfollowsthesite’s topographytoguidepeoplenaturallyaroundandthroughit.Atitsheart,a sunkencourtyardformsagarden-likegatheringspace,enclosedby transparentfaçadesthatdissolvetheboundarybetweeninteriorand exterior.Rampsrisewiththeterraintowardasteppedroofamphitheater, creatingafluidsequenceofspacesforreunion,reflection,andexchange.

Morethanabuilding,Interlaceframesdiplomacyassomethingopen, visible,andcollective.Itsinterwovenpathsconnecthighergroundtothe lowercourtyardlevel,linkingthearchitecturetothesurrounding landscapeandreinforcingasenseofaccessibilityandconnection.Every spaceremainsvisuallyengagedwiththecentralcourtyard,allowing activity,conversation,andcommunitylifetounfoldinfullview.Through transparency,movement,andlandscape,Interlacetransformsdiplomacy intoanactivepublicencounterrootedinopenness,participation,and belonging.

ThreadedGroundisa36-unitbuildingcomplexdesignedasaweavingof landscape architecture,relationships andurbanlifeintoacontinuousthreadof connection.LocatedonadividedsiteinRichmond,theprojectstitchestogether bothsidesoftheroadthroughasweepingcurvethatfunctionsasbothpathway andplace.Morethancirculation,thiscurvebecomesaspatialnarrativethatforms courtyards invitespause,andreconnectsthefragmentedurbanfabric.Theproject transformsmovementintoanexperienceofconnection,linkingpeople,spaces andthecityitself.

AtthecenterofthedesignisitsrelationshiptothegreenspaceoftheVirginia MuseumofFineArts,whichisextendedintothesitethroughacourtyardthat createsathresholdbetweenthetwo Gardensandasequenceofcourtyards unfoldalongthecurve,blendinglandscapewitharchitectureandsofteningthe boundarybetweeninteriorandexteriorspace Thegroundfloorservesasanopen, forest-likecommonswithcafés,gatheringspaces,agym andworkareasthat supportcommunitylifeforyoungprofessionals Above,greenroofsprovide momentsofsolitude,allowingtheprojecttobalancecollectiveinteractionwith quietretreat.

UnfoldingLayersisaprojectthatrespondstothenaturaltopographyoftheRivannaRiver, seamlesslyintegratingwiththelandscapetocreateastructurethatgraduallystepsdown toward the water By following the sites contours, the design unfolds in harmony with its surroundings,invitinguserstoexperienceboththebeautyofnatureandthefunctionalityof the space. Transparency and a central void containng a tree inside the structure invites nature ntothespace,blurringtheboundariesbetweeninteriorandexteriorenvronments. Thisconnectiontothenaturalworldcreatesareflective,immersiveexperienceforvisitors Layeredplatformsabovetheriverprovideaspaceforforagerstoadmiretheflowngwater, offering moments of reflection while allowing interaction with the landscape These platforms also serve a functonal purpose, acting as a per that facilitates access to the river, enabling crossings and further enhancing the sites relationship with the water The project aims to bridge the gap between architecture and nature, creating a space that is bothapeacefulretreatandafunctiona structuredeeplyrootedinitsenvironment
