Dear Residents, Happy New Year! The Marbella opened in 1999 and is celebrating 25 years this year. In honor of the milestone anniversary, Guest Services is sponsoring a magnificent dinner on Saturday, January 20, 2024. You will soon receive an invitation inside your cubby, and we kindly ask that you RSVP as we expect this to be a well-attended event. As you know, residential property taxes went down in 2023, and not surprisingly, the residents thought that there was a mistake. Mark Maran contacted the Collier County Appraiser’s office to learn more about what is happening to Marbella’s residential taxes. Mark learned that after Hurricane Ian, the Collier County Appraiser’s office first established the new market value [assessed value] for 2023 based on the actual sales during 2022. Marbella was classified as marginalized into 2023 sales and discounted the 2023 market value by 20%. The 20% reduction was granted for 2023 only. Bottomline, the 20% reduction will be removed in 2024.
Recently, the Social Committee introduced a new event starting the first week of January, utilizing the Barcelona Room as a cocktail bar. The Food & Beverage team will mix beverages from a satellite bar and serve you on a high-top table with stools or a cabaret table with chairs. The Committee will evaluate the event’s popularity and plans to begin beverage service every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM beginning January 15, 2024. We hope that you join your friends for a beverage and snacks before dinner. Hopefully, your New Year’s resolutions include fitness.
