It’s an exciting new chapter for Ampthill Town Ladies as the team steps up to Eastern Region Division 1 North (Tier 6) following promotion last season and the early signs are fantastic.

Two tough tests, two solid results against strong opposition, an encouraging start as the Ladies find their feet at this higher level. Onwards and upwards!

The squad has been strengthened by six new signings this summer and we are delighted to welcome Matilda O’Keefe, Becki Ingram, Tas Gentle, Destiny Pap, Olivia Clark and Aven Latter all joining our talented existing group, giving real depth and quality heading into the new campaign. Welcome to the AMPS family.

The season continues this Sunday with another tough away fixture against Newmarket, before the Ladies head to Frontiers to play in the First Qualifying Round of the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 6 September.

The season kicked off in style with a home clash against Costessey, newly promoted themselves, and no easy opponents having finished as Norfolk League runners-up and Norfolk Cup winners. The Ladies matched them every step of the way in a thrilling 2-2 draw, with new signing Matilda O’Keefe announcing herself in style with a brace on her home debut. Game two took the team on the road to face established ERWFL side Dunstable, where a battling performance earned a well-deserved 1-1 draw, Kirsty Walker on the scoresheet.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to tonight’s fixture with New Bradwell St Peters and we extend greetings to the players, officials and supporters from New Bradwell. The Amps host their second home game after a 2-1 win over Royston reserves a fortnight ago and will be looking to continue their good start to the term. In their last home outing Danio Brown gave Town the lead but after we missed some openings the Crows levelled before Josiah Ramsay scored a great volley late in the match. It follows an opening day win at Rothwell and Town rose to third in the table on Saturday night after a second away league win when they overcame Crawley Green 2-0. The Amps had key players away but they scored a goal in each half to make it 3 SML wins this season. The Amps went ahead in the first half through Jake Kissiedu and added a second late on from Adam Hughes after good work by Danio Brown who had a hand in the first goal. We had chances to increase the lead before we made sure late on while the Luton hosts had plenty of possession and breaks but could not make them count and Town completed a hard earned win at the Brache. Players will miss games through holidays, weddings, injury etc but there is a big squad as a back-up. In their previous match Town secured a tremendous 3-2 win in their Vase opener at Broadfields United. In a rare Friday night outing due to the hosts groundshare issues Town went three ahead by the hour with a first half double from Danio Brown and a second half strike from Fred Knight. The Combined Counties side pulled two goals back but we did enough to book a place in the next round against Cranfield. The tie is on September 12 and after reaching the first round last year when we lost at Eaton Socon we have the appetite again so it will be an aim to reach round one again.

Our next two home games are both away in Northants. At the weekend we go to Burton Park who have returned to the SML and then we travel to Woodford who have come from the United Counties With our good away record we have the chance to keep up with the pacesetters After the Vase match we have a midweek home clash with Letchworth followed by a trip to Div 2 side Codicote in the Challenge Trophy. We then host Rushden before a midweek trip to Stotfold to end September while we host them in October in the Division 1 cup. The U18s begin their season at home to Bedford Town on Thursday September 5 in the Southern Counties Youth Football League. There is plenty of football up and coming and your support is welcome and appreciated home and away. COYA

NEW BRADWELL ST PETER New Bradwell St Peter FC was formed in 1902 and we currently play in Division 1 of the Spartan South Midlands Football League. The club has a long history and has played at a number of locations in New Bradwell and the surrounding areas over the years. In 1969 after moving to Bradwell Recreation Ground they invited the Cricket Club to join them in building a Sports Pavilion. Since then we have won the South Midlands League Division One title in 1976/77. We once again won the title in 1983/84 and in the early eighties were granted “Senior” status. After a newly formed Vice-Presidents club began fundraising, floodlights were installed in 1998. Their installation and winning the Spartan South Midlands Senior Division allowed the club to be promoted to the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division the following season. In the 1999/2000 season New Bradwell St Peter FC won the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy beating local rivals Milton Keynes City in the final. In 2002/2003 the club celebrated its Centenary season. The 2010- 2011 season brought further success in securing the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Trophy. Following issues with the sponsors and manager at the end of the 2016-17 season the club took a one year leave of absence from men’s football in order to re-group and set up for the 2018-19 season. During the 2017-18 season, another Milton Keynes Spartan South Midlands sides, Loughton Manor FC, moved in to become tenants at New Bradwell St Peter. The link between the two clubs became very strong over the rest of the season and during the summer, after consultation with the FA and the league, Loughton Manor renamed themselves New Bradwell St Peter FC with the committee, management and players moving across to formally become New Bradwell. The next few years saw a number of changes in Management leading up to 2022 when Jamie

Burrows took the helm. With Jamie’s passion and experience came the hope of promotion, after 3 years of hard work behind the scenes getting the ground up to grading standards with help of the committee all the team needed to do was win the division. Which was achieved at the end of the 2024-25 season bringing them up to SSMFL Div 1 at Step 6. The club look forward to this new season with excitement and can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Good evening and welcome to the Anco Stadium for tonights fixture. On paper we have had a great start to the season with four wins from four and the lads are beginning to put into practice the hard work we put in at pre-season training. It has been quite a hard start to the season for us with 3 of the 4 games being away. The league form is building and as the season progresses we will be looking to get into a groove and play our style of football, sometimes however results need to be grinded out and this is due to the opposition digging in and frustrating our system or us simply not being consistent enough for the 90 minutes.

We have retained most of last years squad losing only a couple of experienced players, I wish Josh Bamford and Mark Bunker all the best in thier future footballing ventures, both have our utmost respect, both have been absolute stalwarts of this club over the years. The new lads that have come in should give us some different dimensions and are there to change the dynamics of the team, Harry Buckley and Charlie Mallet from Stotfold, two youngs lads with a big future in the game have been outstanding for us. Shea Greene returns to us, at only 19 years old is another who is developing into a strong forward player and like Charlie has already made his mark on the scoresheet. Tonight we face a New Bradwell side who like us are fresh of a historic AWAY win in the FA VASE, strangely we both beat step 5 opposItion and at the same venue, we defeated Broadfields Utd last Friday, with New Bradwell making a similar journey down the M1 to Tithe Farm Sports Club and defeating Rayners Lane fc. We had two difficult games last season against New Bradwell and tonight im sure will be no different. Lastly, Id like to give a shout out to my staff; our Asst Managers Colin Lauder and Jack Capehorn, our Head coach Tony McCool, new Phsyio Siba Mghale (welcome Siba) and kitman Paul Hankey. My job would be impossible without them and I look forward to a enjoyable and fruitfall season
