This is the process of me recycling materials to make something completely different and unidentifiable.

This is the final product, being bonded together by tape, glue, clay, making the structure sturdy.

On what the actual object is, is left to the viewers interpretation, so they can have their own personal view on it.

Inspired by Franz West

Franz West (1947-2012) was an Austrian artist who made unconventional and very different objects and sculptures, which cause the audience to feel for themselves and interpret what his art meant.

I used different concentrations of ink to create 4 original designs/series of images, using the different concentrations to create dimensions on them. After letting them dry i then used stamps, masking tape and acrylic marker to create a comic book/storyboard like effect, writing captions with the acrylic markers and using the masking tape to make the caption stand out more. To try and change up my designs/series of images, i used different fonts of stamps, even using a typewriter on a few designs to show my skills in different variety of medias, interpreting it in my own personal way.

In this piece, i made 12 different sections using masking tape then used different concentration of black ink, some of them more watered down than others to create different shades/tones, as seen in the piece.

I created different shades and played around, some designs going into the other squares, this then created a complex design, with some squares being more detailed and complex than others to show the progression of the ink with the different concentration used, emphasising depth, texture and form.

Drawing made from a very limited colour palette, as seen on the second image.

I built different ‘sculptures’ using paper, stables and tape, the first image is to show the different colours and shapes used.

Inspiration

I used a piece of paper, then cut a square in the middle of the paper and landed on a random spot of the original photograph.

Final design/outcome

I cut out pieces of cardboard so that they were similar to the distinct shapes shown in the inspiration and put them together.

Very rough exterior build, bonded together using duct tape and glue, labelled with red marker and limited time.
