About RGW Canada
Refugee Girls Worldwide

Who We Are
A registered charity dedicated to safeguarding and enabling displaced girls to reach their full potential. Our team works tirelessly to provide necessary resources for success.

The 100% Charity
Model
We charge zero administrative costs on program funds. Every penny donated goes directly to beneficiaries for food, healthcare, and education.

What We Do

1. UNHCR Referral
The UNHCR (or another referral organization) identifies refugees abroad who need protection and refers them to Canada.
Government-Assisted Refugees (GAR) Program
From Identification to Integration: How It Works

2. Assessment
Government of Canada (IRCC) visa officers review applications, conduct interviews, and approve eligibility for resettlement.

Human Rights Defenders Stream

3. PreDeparture
Approved refugees complete medical exams, security checks, and receive travel documents and prearrival orientation.

A specialized stream within the GAR program specifically for human rights defenders (journalists, activists) and their families. Canada resettles up to 250 individuals annually through this pathway.

4. Arrival
Refugees arrive at a Canadian Port of Entry and are greeted by Service Provider Organizations (SPOs) to begin settlement.

Service Delivery

5. Resettlement
Receive RAP income support for up to 12 months and immediate essential services to establish a new life.

While funded by the Government of Canada, on-the-ground support is delivered by non-governmental Service Provider Organizations (SPOs) located in communities across the country.
