The Amery School District will continue working on their strategic plan draft in the upcoming weeks. The district shared its plans for implementing changes based on feedback received through a school perception survey. Using the data from the survey of community members, staff, and parents, the district guided their goals accordingly.
The survey’s results highlighted some of the district's strengths. It also pointed out areas where improvement is needed for leadership. Conducted earlier this year, the survey helps them plan for the future by addressing shortcomings and building on their strengths. Many results indicated that survey respondents rated the district positively. From the staff’s perspective, they feel the district partners well with local
businesses and community members. They also believe that the district employs high-quality teachers and staff who prepare students for their future careers. Additionally, they feel the district does a good job preparing students for life after graduation. As fall arrives in the area, so do the hunting seasons. For outdoorsmen here, there are multiple seasons for different game animals to harvest. Some of these might include whitetailed deer, bear, waterfowl, and even elk for the first time. This year, people will have a good opportunity to see some white-tailed deer thanks to a couple of mild winters. “Usually that results in does coming into the spring in a little better body condition, and we'll sometimes see higher twinning rates. I'd expect that folks should have plenty of opportunity to harvest deer over in Polk County too,” Cody Strong, Area Wildlife Supervisor said. “You have both the holiday and the extended archery season and there's actually a surveillance area there that folks can get a hold of permits to get additional opportunity here in Polk County specifically.” Many hunters in the area and across the state may stay within their county or travel to others for hunting season due to various factors. The Wisconsin DNR determines deer populations using a statistical model called the Sex Age Kill model. By analyzing harvest data from previous seasons and summer deer observations, they can estimate the current deer population in the state. With the help of a biologist and considering many different
