Our little eagles enjoyed a fun day with cool hats in Pre-School as they learned the letter H.

Elementary School Assembly
Elementary School had their October Assembly with the participation of the ES Cheerleaders, and presentations by our students about this month’s values: Respect, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Fairness and Caring. Same as every month special birthday wishes were given to all October babies.
Elementary STUCO students were the MC’s and lead a well organized assembly.

7th Grade Día de los Muertos Presentation

graders listened to the Rivera family, a
Mexican family who explained the meaning of the Día de los Muertos. They learned about this Mexican tradition as part of their Social Studies curriculum.

Middle and High School Social Studies Dept. Initiative
The Social Studies Department (MS & HS) as part of its curriculum, chose to focus on the influence technology has had in the content we study. Each teacher planned different projects which allowed students a forum to draw these connections for themselves. Stop by and check out some of our student’s work. Mini College Fair Four Universities honored us with their visit last Monday. Seniors and Juniors had the opportunity to talk to their representatives as they are one step ahead to spreading their wings to College.

Parents of all levels attended a talk about ‘‘New Frontiers in the Detection and Treatment of ADHD’’ lead by Mrs. Ana María Leon Goméz (6th grade Counselor and Diagnostician), as part of the Character Education Program.

Elementary and High School Crossover
Thursday morning our Elementary School had Crossover with High School Houses. It was amazing to see our HS eagles bonding with the little ones. This is what Houses is all about!

AST’s Freedom of Chemical Dependency (FCD) Initiative
AST’s FCD Club organized a presentation on the effects ‘‘vaping’’ has on adolescents. The presentation was led by Dr. Fulton, who works for the US Embassy, and has extensive knowledge on this subject. Special thanks to Mr. Daniel Dobbe (IB Diploma Coordinator, and Student Services Director) who coordinated this informative presentation.

STUCO organized an amazing Pep Rally to cheer our AASCA Basketball teams before they left for San José, Costa Rica to represent our school in the AASCA Unified Basketball tournament. #Goeagles

CHAMPIONS! Our AASCA Basketball teams, female and male, won FIRST PLACE in the AASCA Unified Basketball Tournament. Our boys, defeated EIS which had won the title the last four years and the girls won against Village School, the same school they faced in finals last year. CONGRATULATIONS EAGLES!

Alumni Corner Yuri Vásquez (’92) Alumnus Yuri Vasquez has recently been awarded for his challenging case of complex coronary interventionism at the Instituto Hondureño de Seguridad Social (IHSS). He was the only doctor in Latin America, out of a total of 100 chosen, to present at the most important Congress of cardiology interventionist, “TCT Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics 2018”, in San Diego, California. Yuri, studied Medicine in the Escuela Médico Militar in México. After his general years of medicine, he went to Hospital Universitario Gómez Ulloa in Madrid to get his specialty in cardiology. Years after, he got his subspecialty in Interventional Cardiology in the University of British Columbia, Canada. Nowadays, he works in Clinicas Viera in Tegucigalpa, and is member of the Sociedad Española de Cardiología and of the American and European Cardiology Society. We are really proud of Yuri and we wish him the best in all these years to come! Congratulations #proudeagle
