Helping Our Kids Grow With Autonomy Talk (ps) Pre-School parents participated in a conference delivered by Ms. Fadya Kafati (PS & ES Counselor) called ‘‘Helping our kids grow with autonomy’’. These talks for parents are priceless and we thank our Special Services team for this.
Mrs. Fadya Kafati (PS Counselor) was in charge of addressing this talk to PS parents and staff.

Character counts week (es) Train Your Dragon 3. The Character Education department celebrated Character Counts Week. This event is It was an incredible morning for our students! about the universal values we share and elementary school students carried out different activities to celebrate. The poster contest, parade, and the dance contest were some of the highlights of this amazing week! Don´t forget: ‘‘Character Counts’’!

Mrs. Elcenora Martinez reads to 2D (Es) Mrs. Elcenora Martinez, former Elementary Principal, teacher, and Alumna (´72), took a break from retirement and came to 2D as a guest reader. She shared with us her love for reading, and her enthusiasm and passion for teaching. Thank you Mrs. Martinez! Fun fact: She read a story that is dated ‘‘400’’ years from today!

STEAM: 8th grade models Earthquake Safe Building Mrs. Marici Giron’s 8th graders studying geology, designed and built an Earthquake Safe building. Their structural design shows required research and problem solving as well as other 21st Century skills challenging students to perform to their best knowledge & skills as part of the STEAM program.

Relevo por la vida pink day Relevo por la Vida sponsored a Pink Colors Day to raise funds to support the fight against Breast Cancer. Our students and staff dressed in pink to show their solidarity and make people aware of this terrible yet curable disease!

Cepudo club visits hospital materno infantil Cepudo Club visited Hospital Materno Infantil last Saturday as part of their Social Responsibility Program and shared an amazing time with the little patients. Cepudo brought food, toys, and gifts for them, but most of all, they spent quality time with them. Thank you Cepudo!

Alumni Corner Gabriel Vallecillo (‘94) Alumnus Gabriel Vallecillo is a pioneer of video mapping in Honduras. Graduated from AST in 1994. Gabriel went to Monterrey, MĂŠxico to study a major in Philosophy, and a Master in Humanities in Tec de Monterrey. In 2004 he won a scholarship from the Organization of American States (OAS), and in 2010 he attended Fullbright International Visitor Leadership Program (ILVP) for Working Artists Fellowship. Gabriel creates poetry in the form of live video, performing LiveCinema installations and VJ executions with poetry, applying video mapping techniques on three-dimensional objects. He has participated in the Biennial of Cuenca (Ecuador, 2009), 3Biennale de Honduras 2010 and the Biennial of Visual Arts of the Central American Isthmus 2010 in Managua, among others. He is the founder of the Rizoma group of audiovisual experimentation and the Lamepantallas project where he introduces poetry in electronic music events. He has participated and exhibited his audiovisual work in biennials of art and festivals in Italy, Ecuador, Cuba, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, United States, Panama, Berlin, and Honduras. He has also lectured and directed forums on culture and art, politics and cultural criticism in Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Panama and Honduras. His most recent work was during the Festival of Lights in Berlin where he demonstrated the beauty of Honduras through his three-dimensional video mapping.
