2nd Grade Fieldtrip to ‘‘Supermercados La Colonia’’ (ES) 2nd grade students took a field trip to La Colonia super market after studying how food goes from the farm to your table. Students were given a budget of L.500.00 and sent out to plan a meal for the family. Students learned important economic concepts as well as "want vs. need". Go eagles!

4th Grade Fieldtrip to ‘‘Museo para la Identidad Nacional’’ (ES) As part¿ of the Estudios Sociales curricular activities, 4th grade students visited the Museo para la Identidad Nacional in a cultural fieldtrip. Our Eagles learned a lot about Honduras and had a blast at Tegucigalpa’s downtown!

3rd and 4th Grade Spring Concert (ES) Parents, family, and friends enjoyed an extraordinary concert of our 3rd and 4th graders who interpreted a variety of famous songs. Shoutout to Ms. Calyanne Crouch for preparing our students and organizing this show.

Día del Idioma Español Assembly (MS & HS) Middle and High School Spanish department had an end of the year assembly with a lot of theatre. Our 10th graders interpreted Oedipus the King by Sophocles and some students performed a poetry recital of different authors. Juniors Ariela Pineda and Raul López interpreted a musical based on ‘‘El Hombre de la Mancha’’. Congratulations to the Spanish Department, ¡buen trabajo!

Seniors: Walk & Hat Exchange Seniors 2019 had their last Walk as Seniors on campus in the morning and the traditional Hat Exchange in the afternoon. It was a very emotional moment in which the Class of 2019 say goodbye to AST and welcomed the new Seniors Class of 2020.

Drama Club Presents: Selfie Friday night AST's Drama Club presented SELFIE; it is a play where "high school students prepare for the future. Facing bullies, parents, pressure, sickness, and their own selfjudgment, the characters search for ways to stand out. As they document their year, one click at a time, they come to realize life is not about what other people see, it's about the pictures they have of themselves.’’ Congratulations to our great actors and their Club Advisor Mrs. Michelle Schneider!

This Honorable societies are organizations for middle and high school students that seeks to honor students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Mother’s Day at Emma Romero (Club Relevo por la Vida) Club Relevo por la Vida celebrated Mother’s Day at the Cancer Center (CCERC) with a big Bash! Our students treated cancer patients, survivors and their families to a delicious brunch that included musical performances, treat bags and surprise gifts to 100 wonderful moms from the Center. It was a Party that celebrated the lives of these mom warriors who fight for their lives with honor and love every day.
Everything was possible to the kind heart and valuable donations from STUCO, HONDURAS PROJECT, Panaderia Salmans, Pan Y Más, Agua Brissa, Pollos El Cortijo and Confites Venus. Thank you!

Alumni Corner Jovhanka Peña (‘93) Alumna Jovhanka Peña is a pharmacist who’s passionate about sharing the love of helping others. After her years in AST, she decided to study a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and pharmacy in the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH). She continued her studies in UBA Buenos Aires where she obtained her Master's Degree in Galenic Development and Pharmaceutical Production. After her studying years, she started working in Pharmaetica where she is currently the Technical Director. She designed and constructed the first pharmaceutical plant in Honduras that meets international pharmaceutical requirements, increasing the efficiency of the production in Pharmaetica's pharmaceutical plant by 70%. Four years ago, she formed pharmaetica Social Responsibility. With the help of their employees, they have been able to change several institutions.
Jovhanka shares another passion besides medicine which is helping others. She is the president of CEPUDO in Tegucigalpa, and also volunteers in Cepudito, and Repartiendo Amor. She managed to lead different groups of reforestation, emergency aid, construction of schools and humanitarian aid. For Jovhanka, one of her greatest achievements are her children, seeing them grow up with a great heart and goals that reach out to be honest and true to themselves.
