Science Fair 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade (ES) Our little scientists showed off their incredible projects during the Science Fair. These fairs motivate our students toward science, contributes their social development, and increases their skills of presentation. Kudos to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade!

Character Ed. Talk Éxito en los Hijos (PS) The Character Education Department ¿ organized a Talk for our Pre School parents titled Que necesitan nuestros hijos para ser exitosos en el Siglo XXI. This great discussion was given by Mr. Róger Martínez Miralda. He has worked in education for more than 25 years, and he is actually the General Secretary of Unitec. Thank you to Ms. Nena Alvarado (Character Ed. Coordinator) for organizing this talk.

Pi Day Celebration (HS & MS) The Math Department organized a fun House activity to celebrate International Pi Day. Each House ate delicious cupcakes, and competed in a special Kahoot game. Kahoot is a game-based learning platform with multiple-choices quizzes used as educational technology. What an incredibly amazing day!

Movie Night ‘‘The Hate U Give’’ (MS & HS) Your Dragon 3. AASCA Tennis Tournament (MS & HS) Outstanding performances by our AASCA Tennis teams in the AASCA Tournament 2019. Infa boys: 1st place Infa girls: 1st place Juve boys: 3rd place Juve girls: 4th place Congratulations to our champions and to their coaches for representing our school in the first Tennis tournament in AST’s history.

Hacia Democracy, Dominican Republic The Hacia Democracy Club went to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to participate in the annual Hacia conference. This conference simulates the proceedings of the Organization of American States (OAS). Students from across the Americas have the opportunity to learn about domestic and international issues.

Band and Honor Choir Heritage Music Festival, California The Honor Choir and Band had the opportunity to travel and participate in the Heritage Music Festival 2019 in Anaheim, California. The purpose of this festival is for students to perform for nationally acclaimed adjudicators, learn from their feedback, and be inspired. It was an amazing opportunity for our great musicians.

Alumni Corner Helena Alvarez (1989) Alumna Helena Alvarez is one of our alumni that stands out in the Television world. She graduated from Marketing in the Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UNITEC), and started her career in television. Helena is known for working in Televicentro for a long time and nowadays she has one of the TV shows with the highest rating in the Honduran television, ‘‘Hoy Es Tu Día’’. You can watch her program from Monday to Friday at 10:00am in Canal 11. Helena uses her TV program not only to entertain but also to show successful stories, help people, and show the beauty of our country. Helena is not only a TV host, she is also a businesswoman. She has a business in marketing and events. If you want to know more about Helena and her TV show, you can follow her in Fb and Insta @helenalvarezg. Congratulations to Helena on her successful career!
