Kinder Literacy Night (pS)
Kinder parents were invited to learn more about our Pre School’s Literacy Program. Parents moved from classroom to classroom to learn more about the techniques used by each teacher.

Character Ed. Talk ‘‘Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity’’ Train Your Dragon 3. Ms. Ana Maria Leon Gomez delivered a presentation about Executive Functions in It was an incredible morning for our students! children and adolescents with ADHD. This school wide talk explained to parents why there are difficulties related to memory, flexible thinking and emotional regulation in persons with ADHD. It also presented suggestions on how they can provide support and guidance to their children.
Turkey cupcakes were catered by our Dining Hall as we approach to Thanksgiving celebration!

2nd Grade Colonial Days (es) In line with the curriculum, second graders traveled on a field trip to the past to the Colonial American times. Students participated in hands-on activities that reflect life in that time, such as fishing, cooking, planting, sewing, among other things. Teachers, parents, and family members volunteered to run each station. Kudos 2nd grade for this magnificent activity!

9th Grade Greek Festival (hs) 9th grade celebrated the traditional Greek Cultural Festival. This co-curricular activity was organized by the students and guided jointly by Mrs. Yillian Izaguirre (Spanish Teacher) and Mr. Michael Morrill (HS English) being the 6th consecutive year in a row of this festival. Delicious Greek food, music, poetry and the traditional Zorba the Greek dance were some of the highlights of the event.

AASCA Knowledge Bowl Tournament, San Pedro sula Nine Eagles travelled to San Pedro Sula to represent AST in the AASCA Knowledge Bowl Tournament 2019. Our Junior Varsity team and Varsity team did an outstanding job demonstrating great leadership and sportsmanship. GO EAGLES!

Global Vision International, Punta Condega Trip 14 members of the Global Vision International Club (GVI) traveled to a sea turtle rescue center in Punta Condega, Choluteca to take part in a turtle release. The students were able to take baby turtles that hatched from rescued eggs, and release them into the ocean at sunset. It was a fun, once-in-a-lifetime experience for our Eagles. A big thanks to club advisor, Mr. David Lanza, and chaperone, Mr. Sam Grimes for organizing and accompanying the students on this trip.

GIN ‘’Wonder Women’’ Bakesale at Novacentro Global Issues Network (GIN), Wonder Women group, went to Mall Novacentro to raise funds for their mission. Their mission consists on empowering young women by educating and promoting entrepreneurship and individual sustainability, making a difference in girls life. Volleyball Invitational Tournament (Eagle Cup) Last Saturday, Eagle Cup celebrated its closing ceremony with an Invitational Tournament U-12.Our athletes had the opportunity to perform their teamwork and sportsmanship skills. It was amazing to watch them play all the games! All schools, visitors and guests, had a wonderful experience.

Alumni Corner Lourdes Barcenas (1996) Lourdes Barcenas’ (Alumna 1996) business is standing out in the world of coffee, exporting Honduran coffee to other countries. After graduating from AST in 1996, Lourdes earned her Bachelor’s degree from UNITEC in Marketing & International Business. Two years later she got an MBA from INCAE in Costa Rica. Lourdes worked for 13 years in both the financial and commercial areas of the multinational SabMiller, now ABInbev. She is characterized by her high initiative and level of analysis which lead her to execute the strategies outlined. After 13 years and with a great position in the company she decided to become an entrepreneur and she became co-owner of Inversiones HA-BA. Inversiones Haba is a company that seeks to increase the presence of Honduran coffee in international markets and at the same time satisfy the tastes of the different customers of this beverage around the world.
