Student Services Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebration High School Student Services celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas with a delicious feast. Student Services teachers organized a great lunch with fun games. Kudos Student Services!
Ms. Dulce Lopez, Mrs. Stephanie Villavicencio, and Mrs. Sonny Williams are the teachers in charge of Student Services. Thank you for all your hard work throughout the year.

Breakfast with Santa (Pre-School & 1st Grade) Pre-School and 1st grade enjoyed a delicious breakfast with Santa catered by our AST Dining Hall. The breakfast was a fundraiser for CEPUDO. Cepudo is a non-profit organization that helps the ones who need it the most by providing different types of donations. For more information go to cepudohonduras.org

Breakfast with Santa (2nd – 5th Grade) Elementary 2nd to 5th grade also enjoyed an amazing Breakfast with Santa organized by our CEPUDO Youth Club.

Empty Bowls & Christmas Concert (PS and ES) Tuesday night PS and 1st grade lit up Christmas as we had our Christmas Concert and Empty Bowls at the Performing Arts Center. It was a great spectacle where our Eagles showed all their talent musically and artistically. Families bought beautiful Empty Bowls made by our students to support Hospital MarĂa de Especialidades PediĂĄtricas.
Empty bowls is an international organization to help fight hunger. It was started at AST in 2008 BY Art teachers Jodi & Chris Peterson, and has been adopted by the ARTS Department ever since. AST students work on clay projects in their ART classes from Kinder through High School. ALL funds raised this year will go to help provide food to the Hospital Maria patients.

Empty Bowls & Christmas Concert (MS and HS) Wednesday night was Middle and High School’s turn to show off their amazing empty bowls and demonstrate all the talent in the Christmas concert. It was an amazing night full of Christmas spirit!
During the Empty Bowls Night parents purchased their bowl, and got a Tortilla Soup from our Dining Hall. Thank you for your support.

Cinderella Project 3rd grade finished their Cinderella Project campaign last Wednesday. Our students collected shoes in good condition from their houses, and donated to the children of the Amor y Esperanza school of Tegucigalpa. Third graders collected approximately 360 pairs of shoes. 3-D was the section that donated the most shoes: 114 pairs. They won a crunchy taco party! Congratulations and Thank You 3rd graders!

Christmas Baskets The AST family rejoiced last Friday as we celebrated Christmas early by delivering Christmas baskets to our General Services Employees. STUCO members represented the student body in the delivery. Thank you to all our families that kindly support and donated for these very much needed and welcomed Christmas presents!

PTO and SEIT Christmas Celebration Pto and SEIT organized their traditional Christmas celebration for the AST staff. Delicious Burritos were catered by our Dining Hall, and each employee received a gift on behalf of the school. GO EAGLES!

STUCO Christmas Assembly This year’s STUCO Christmas assembly was tons of fun. Students enjoyed Christmas games (Santa’s Beard, and Marshmallows contest), and the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas. Thank you STUCO for your hard work this semester and Merry Christmas! Ho, Ho, Ho!

Christmas Concert with Melina Pineda and Jazz Nova Saturday night our Performing Arts Center opened its doors to the community with an amazing Christmas Concert by Melina Pineda and Jazz Nova. It was a very special night were some of our students had the opportunity of sharing the stage with Melina and Jazz Nova and sing Christmas Carols.

Alumni Corner René Gerardo Santos Mondragón (’88) Today we remember one of our Alumnus who recently passed away Rene Santos. Rene was of the Class of 1988. During his school years he was member of NHS, and recipient of the Ambassador’s Medal for the class of ‘88. After graduating from AST, he interned in Economics in the University of Georgia and San Miguel de Tucumán in Argentina. Years later, he graduated from UNAH with a Bachelor in Economics and then he got a Master’s in Education in the University of Kansas. Rene dedicated his life to teaching. He worked 25 years in the Dowal School and he also taught English courses in the Instituto Hondureño de Cultura Interamericana, as well as in the English Academy at his alma mater. Rene was a founder member of the Club de Leones de Tegucigalpa, where he won a lot of recognitions. He also volunteered in the Club de Leones from San Pedro Sula. It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to this incredible alumnus, but he will be forever in our hearts.
