100 Days of School Pre School and Elementary students celebrated 100 Days of School wearing shirts that had one hundred things on it. Some kids wore 100 stickers, others 100 happy faces, etc. 100 days wiser, smarter, and 100 days of a lot of happiness and fun!

Juan David Aristizábal Featured in Forbes Magazine’s ‘‘30 under 30 social entrepreneurs’’, Juan David Aristizábal, came to inspire our high school students to find their passion and change the world. In a one hour and thirty minutes conference, the Colombian, as a natural leader who has long engaged with his community to improve society, explained and made students aware about the difficulties in life and how to approach every aspect to succeed and be happy. Juan David, is a Columbia University grad, and he is the founder of BuenaNota organization. He is working to develop a strong, integrated relationship with academia and Social Entrepreneurship Bank that will connect venture with potential investors.

Senior Lunch Senior Presidents Edgar Torres and Ricardo Zelaya organized their Senior Lunch. The event was hosted in the Atala-Asfura residency, were they had the privilege of reminiscing unforgettable memories with their classmates and teachers. There was a delicious Paella for lunch and excellent music. Seniors 2018 had a great time in their last phase of their journey towards graduation! #Seniors2018

Art & Biology Overlap The Art & Biology classes created "The Carbon Cycle in Art Form’’ collage located in the HS building’s 3rd floor. This is a collaborative and cross curricular project carried out by: Mr. Omar Otero's Visual Arts class, who created an art abstraction of one piece of the cycle while practicing the skills of a Painting or 3D Painting; MS. Michelle Corrales' Media Arts class, who created an art abstraction of one piece of the cycle while practicing the skills of Digital Painting; Mr. Eric O'Bryant's and Mrs. Ali Swanson Biology class, who studied the Carbon Cycle and interpreted an art piece, and wrote about its artistic connection to the science of the Carbon Cycle.
Elementary Lunch Bunch CONGRATULATIONS to our Elementary School students who were selected by their teachers to attend the January Lunch Bunch with their Principal Mrs. Lourdes Vides. Keep up the good work!!

The Bullying Issue Ms. Cristiana Baide (Elementary Counselor 2nd – 5th grade) delivered a very informative lecture on ‘‘The Bullying Issue’’, harassment and discrimination among children and youth. It was a great conference enjoyed by many elementary school parents, as part of the Parent Talks sponsored together by the Character Education and Counseling Departments. An interesting discussion followed. Snacks were catered by our Dining Hall.
Guitar Session Mr. Michael Sundlin (7th grade English teacher) surprised our Kinder students during snack time and recess with a little guitar lesson. It was a great time and the kids loved it. Thank You Mr. Sundlin!

Alumni Corner María del Carmen Zepeda Mojica (’75) After graduating from AST, Alumna Carmen Zepeda (’75), left the Eagles’ Nest to test the waters at University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she received her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. After college, married to José Elías Fléfil and a mother of five, Carmen focused completely on her children and family until 2001 when she began to work in Larach & Cia as Marketing Director. She has contributed a lot to the growth of this very much respected family business, by innovating and expanding social responsibility and corporate branding. Carmen is certified in digital marketing and is constantly taking courses to keep up to date with the marketing world. When her children attended AST, Carmen was member of the Board of Directors (SEIT). She is currently President and one of the founders of the American School of Tegucigalpa’s Alumni Association (ASTAA). She has been a true Eagle since her early days in Kindergarten, and now, as a grandparent, she continues her legacy by uniting ALUMNI all over the world to help different causes at AST. We are proud of you Carmen and we thank you dearly for all your help!
