Kinder and 3rd Grade Math Buddies 3rd Graders reinforced our kinder students math skills during the Math buddies activity. Different stations with different fun math games were visited Friday morning. Thank you 3rd graders for being great teachers to our Kinder eagles!

Elementary School Monthly Assembly (ES) Elementary School had their monthly Âż Assembly with a lot of announcements and good news given by the Elementary STUCO, who were in charge of leading the Assembly. Way to go ES!
3rd graders sold Valentine Grams during the month of February to support INFRACNOVI. In this assembly, they gave INFRACNOVI a check for L.39,230.00 that was all the money they raised from the grams activity. THANK YOU 3rd grade students, teachers and parents!

Central American College Tour Ast hosted the largest fair in our history of College Fairs. Universities from all over the world were part of the Central American College Tour. A BIG congratulations to our HS counselors, Mrs. Aviles and Ms. Figueroa for organizing this incredible activity. Surely, this will help our students make a decision to keep flying high after leaving the Eagles’ nest.

Presentation Going to College (HS) Mrs. Yolanda Aviles and Ms. Marisabel Figueroa talked to our High School parents about the process of going to college. Our HS Counselors provided great tips and advice about college applications, universities, and more. Kudos to our Counselors for this conference and your daily help! STUCO Carnival Another successful STUCO Carnival was carried out by our Middle and High School students last Saturday night. 1300 visitors enjoyed the different stands that were put together by the grades (MS-HS) and their class advisors. New activities, such as Laser Tag, Beauty Boutique, and FIFA were received very well by all, as well as traditional Pirates of the Caribbean, Love Tunnel and a very scary Haunted House. Saturday’s carnival just came to prove that team work and great leadership can do WONDERS!

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) ‘‘Pizcas de Amor’’ SHH launched their cookbook ‘‘Pizcas de Amor’’ last Friday to benefit La Fundación Hondureña para El Niño con Cancer. All the profits of the cookbooks will help the little patients fighting for their life. Cookbooks are on sale at the school’s bookstore, Dining Hall, and at the Fundación Hondureña para el Niño con Cáncer for just of L.300.00. Join this noble cause and have a great meal!

IB Art Visit Picasso Exhibit at the MIN (HS) Train Your Dragon Mrs. Pamela Callejas 11th3.and 12th grade IB Art, went to the Museo para la Identidad It was anto incredible morning for our students!11th grade students Nacional de Honduras (MIN) appreciate the Picasso Exhibition. are studying abstract art as part of their curriculum program and this was a great opportunity to connect it to the real life art. Thank you Mrs. Pamela for this great experience!

11th Grade Biology Gene Therapy Presentations (HS) Mrs. Ali Swanson’s 11th grade Biology students learned about current innovations in genetics by developing a gene therapy technique to treat hereditary disorder. They presented their proposed technique to ‘‘investors’’, who were faculty members coming in to judge. Our Eagles followed the AST-Problem Solving Process to achieve success!

Athletic Department Fit Fest The Athletic Department organized for the first time ever a Fit Fest. Mr. Javier Seidel (Fitness Trainer) was in charge of leading this sports event. Our athletes and staff had a great time competing and participating in this new activity that includes parents, students, staff, and alumni in an event filled with sportsmanship and fitness. Donation to Alianza Francesa As part of the educational partnership between AST and the Alianza Francesa of Tegucigalpa (AFT), our Superintendent, Mrs. Liliana Jenkins, presented the Director of AFT, Joffrey Nanquette, a donation on behalf of the American School for L.20,000.00 to benefit the project Dar Vida a las Paredes del Orfanato ‘‘La Casa Hogar Madre Leonarda’’, in Limón, Honduras, department of Colón.

Alumni Corner ASTAA Basketball Tournament Last Monday night were the finals for the American School of Tegucigalpa Alumni Association basketball tournament finals. It was the best way to end three weeks of competitiveness, sportsmanship and fun among our ‘‘bald’’ eagles. It was also a great way to promote networking between different generations of alumni.
