On November 10 & 11 the school hosted a 2-day workshop for teacher leaders on "Digging Into Data: using data to inform instruction and close learning gaps". Sponsored by AASCA, this was the first time the school hosted a regional professional learning event. Four other schools participated for two successful days of learning and collaboration. The workshop was facilitated by Jennifer Sikes and Anahí Paredes. Los días 10 y 11 de noviembre, la escuela organizó un taller para los maestros sobre "Análisis de datos: usar datos para informar sobre la instrucción y cerrar las brechas de aprendizaje". Patrocinado por AASCA, esta fue la primera vez que la escuela organizó un evento regional de aprendizaje profesional. Otras cuatro escuelas participaron en dos exitosos días de aprendizaje y colaboración. El taller fue facilitado por Jennifer Sikes y Anahí Paredes.
Happy New Year everyone. We hope everyone had a great Christmas break. We are beginning the 3rd quarter of the school year! Report cards will be going home on Monday January 16th. Please sign and return the yellow envelope to school. Report cards may be kept at home. We will have an Early Dismissal on Wednesday January 18th. NURSERY STUDENTS WILL NOT HAVE SCHOOL ON THIS DAY. Kinder students will be dismissed at 12:20 p.m. Pre Kinder students will have a regular school day. 100th day of school is on January 24th. Kinder students will be counting to 100! Please refer to the Kinder class site for more information on the activities planned for this day. We will have a Lps.5.00 Colors Day on Friday January 27th. We will have a Late Start on Friday February 3rd. PRE KINDER STUDENTS WILL NOT HAVE SCHOOL ON THIS DAY. Kinder students will begin school at 9:30 a.m. Nursery students will have a regular school day. Feliz Año Nuevo a todos. Esperamos que todos hayan tenido una excelente Navidad. Estamos comenzando el tercer parcial del año escolar! Las calificaciones se irán a casa el lunes 16 de enero. Por favor firme y devuelva el sobre amarillo a la escuela. Las calificaciones pueden quedarse en casa. Tendremos una salida temprana el miércoles 18 de enero. LOS ALUMNOS DE NURSERY NO TENDRÁN CLASES EN ESTE DÍA. Los alumnos de Kinder saldrán a las 12:20 p.m. Los alumnos de Pre Kinder tendrán un día normal de clases. A huge thank you to all the mothers who helped during our traditional Posada on December 15th. Classroms looked beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. We saw a big display of organization and creativity. Our appreciation goes to Mr. Nelson Mendoza and Mr. Walter Arita who with their guitars and songs made the Posada a lively activity. The students especially enjoyed “Caminando por Tegucigalpa”. Mr. Nelson Mendoza’s message during the Posada was very heartfelt and enlightening. The meaning of the Posada was explained by him to all present in very simple terms. Congratulations to those students who participated in the Posada and did the blessing of the food before the children started eating. They really did a great job! One more time the Spanish and Estudios Sociales teachers outdid themselves. The Posada, which has been traditionally planned for several years now, turned out spectacular this year. Thank you for continued support with all the special activities in school. Thank you also to the homeroom teachers and students who help with the management of the activity. Congratulations to Ms. Calyanne Crouch and Mr. Octavio Zavala, they did an outstanding preparation for the Christmas Concert. Christmas songs placed everyone in the Christmas spirit and ready for the holidays. Second grade students and the Elementary Honors Choir sang like angels. Muchas gracias y un fuerte abrazo a todas las madres que colaboraron durante nuestra tradicional posada el 15 de diciembre. Las aulas lucían con una decoración muy hermosa y la comida estaba deliciosa. Observamos una gran organización y creatividad. Nuestro sincero agradecimiento a los señores: Mr. Nelson Mendoza y Mr. Walter Arita, quienes con sus guitarras y canciones hicieron de las posadas una actividad muy animada. Los niños disfrutaron cantando “Caminando por Tegucigalpa”. El mensaje durante la posada por Mr. Nelson Mendoza fue muy sincero y enaltecedor. Explicó con términos muy sencillos a todos los presentes el significado de las posadas. Muchas felicidades a los niños que participaron en la Posada y quienes dieron la Oración antes de la comida. Hicieron un gran trabajo! Una vez más los maestros de Español y Estudios Sociales se superaron a ellos mismos. Las Posadas, que han sido tradicionalmente planificadas desde hace varios años, resultaron espectacular este año. Gracias por el apoyo continúo con todas las actividades especiales en la escuela. También muchas gracias a los maestros de aulas y alumnos que ayudaron con la organización. Felicidades a Ms. Calyanne Crouch y Mr. Octavio Zavala por su increíble presentación en el concierto navideño. Happy New Year Eagle family! We are happy to be back in the school hallways again for another great semester. This month we are celebrating the value of perseverance. Travis Bradberry, author of ‘Emotional Intelligence 2.0’ wrote that “Grit is that 'extra something' that separates the most successful people from the rest. It's the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality.” Let’s focus our old list of ‘New Year Resolutions’ to ONE goal and give it our ALL so, after persevering until the bitter end, we can see it flourish into something amazing come December.
