Dear reader,

Integrity... Webster defines it as “the quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness. A woman of integrity. Who can define her?

Since 1995, the Mission of American Heritage Girls has been to build women of integrity. To build—a process involving construction, grit, patience, skill, trust, and hope. The path to integrity isn’t navigated in grand gestures under sparkling spotlights; it is a collection of minuscule victories, kitchen table conversations, tear-soaked pep talks after a hard loss, accountability in the face of budding arrogance, and secure love at home when a friend let her down. A woman of integrity builds resilience, a soft heart toward God, and an unshaken resolve as she leads in the world.

She is powerful—in the Lord’s strength. She is strategic—in stewarding her influence for the Gospel. She is joyful—as the Holy Spirit gives. She is complete—her identity is in Christ.

A woman of integrity is who parents have in mind as they nurture, guide, love, and teach—they parent with the goal in mind. A woman of integrity is who AHG Troop leaders pray their girls will become and then faithfully come alongside parents in the building process. While a girl’s journey is bound by time, God lovingly sees who she will become down the road—and He delights in her!

Seasoned readers will see new sections—stories of AHG volunteers from the field, the exciting impact of AHG Area Teams, and hope-filled new AHG Troops fresh off the chartering process and ready for faith, service, and fun! You can experience the same beloved sections showing Girl Members thriving through service, badgework, and community influence, dedicated Charter Organizations investing in the girls and families of their churches, Christian schools, and co-ops, and alumnae living the fruit of God’s work through the AHG Program.

As we faithfully continue the work God beckons through AHG, I am filled with gratitude at what God has grown and sown in three decades of courage and diligence. Each time a girl’s story comes to me, I can’t help but praise God for what He’s doing in her life. Thank you for partnering with this ministry in prayer, in servant-hearted leadership, and in support.

News headlines, political mudslinging, human tragedy and suffering—there’s no denying that we live in a broken world. And though… there is great hope! The Savior of the world is still on the throne, and He still offers truth, love, peace, hope, mercy, and grace to the brokenhearted! And He’s working mightily in this next generation. If you want proof, just take a look at your local American Heritage Girls (AHG) Troop!

AHG Troops across the country are aiding girls in understanding their identity in Christ, while activating them to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their communities. Faith-filled adults are mentoring and guiding girls. AHG cultivates authentic community through experiences of discovery, late nights around a campfire, and poignant moments of encouragement. Here’s just a glimpse of what AHG is seeing across the country:

Multi-generational ministry is happening! Wise women are sharing their unique skills and talents with a generation thirsty for more than just information—real wisdom. Girls are learning to understand and steward their unique skills and

giftings to glorify the Lord through service. Girls are discovering new interests and exploring new vocations. Girls are learning resilience through failing forward and believing that they can do hard things. Girls are learning that emotions are a gift from God but not intended to dictate action and how to pair emotions with wisdom and Scriptural Truth. Girls are having so much FUN—giggles, glitter, star-filled skies, and sticky s’more fingers! Parents are being equipped to guide their girls well through Raising Godly Girls Podcast, E-Books, and Radio Minute.

As you read through this edition of Heritage Headlines, I pray the stories offer hope and a renewed excitement for the future. God is stirring in the hearts of girls across this country, and we have the privilege of being part of it!

RESTORING A GENERATION’S LOVE FOR FAITH AND COUNTRY

Patriotism. Stewarding freedom as Christ-followers. Celebrating citizenship, no matter where we live. In a modern world rife with polarized groups clashing online and in person, it’s no wonder that parents are aching for guidance on how to address each of these things from a Biblical Worldview.

Today’s youth often feel that, depending on which social group they are with, they must morph themselves into a particular identity to align with the approved narrative script. One group urging love of country and the other urging shame of country. When patriotic holidays cross the family calendar, young people truly aren’t sure how to celebrate—if at all.

Freedom isn’t only an idea; freedom is a choice. Christians choose to live free, to walk in the teachings of Jesus in the face of a confused and hostile society, knowing that it is only in Christ that true freedom is found. In that choice, we seek to come alongside those of like mind that we may help one another to be free in Him. Freedom is at the core of the heritage shared by all Christians. Indeed, Jesus’ disciples are those who have freely chosen to follow Him wherever He leads. Freedom is also at the very foundation of our American heritage.

“One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Words written over 130 years ago carry a deep meaning. Fun history lesson: the words “under God” were not written into the Pledge of Allegiance until 1954, when President Eisenhower signed a bill passed by Congress. Oftentimes, it can feel like our modern American culture holds no space for God. But with careful observation, He is still at work in this country.

In fact, an unprecedented revival of Christian faith is happening in our nation among adolescents and young adults—the Holy Spirit is on the move in the West! God placed each of us in this time and place for a purpose—we, by no accident, are Christians and Americans. The order is vital; Christians have an inborn framework to bear and extend the image of God first, and the land in which we do this happens to be the United States of America, our second allegiance.

What was once a valued virtue for Americans, that pride now carries myriad disclaimers and nuances—ones that require maturity and wisdom to navigate well. How do we pass this down to our kids—the next generation of Christians, American citizens? What if we reimagined how we show our patriotism, going beyond the firecrackers, barbecues, and matching Americana family t-shirts? What if, together, we could define our patriotism

as a way to honor God, multiplying the blessings He gave us as Americans and seeking freedom in Christ for all? Raising Godly Girls is coming alongside parents to raise up a generation who honor their God, family, country, and community—not exclusive from one another, but in a holistic, reverent, and impactful way.

If your children are old enough to recognize the American Flag, they’re old enough to begin learning the many layers of our nation’s history. Show them the names of the men who signed the founding documents. Tell them the stories of the 13 original colonies. And don’t be afraid to share even the tragedies of our nation’s story. Like us, a broken people redeemed by a Merciful God, the whole story of our nation is important. Share the wisdom of George Santayana’s 1905 book “The Life of Reason” that says, “Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.” This is the burden and the joy of your girl’s citizenship, first as a Daughter of the King and as a citizen of this nation.

Likewise, as your child looks around at their government today, men and women who are charged with leading the roughly 330 million citizens of the United States—how do they funnel that view through embattled news headlines, communities ravaged by division and strife, and ways that other countries view their nation? For many, the struggle of reconciling America’s missteps produces an inborn tension—can they say, “I’m proud to be an American” anymore? While we work out our battles, it’s vital that we maintain unity. And that unity will not come passively; it must be an active choice—both individually and collectively. Together we can say, “I choose to honor you because I trust that it is God who is weaving us back together.”

Seek out places, like an American Heritage Girls or Trail Life USA Troop, that your children can learn our nation’s foundations from a Biblical Worldview, where you can link arms with a community of families who wholeheartedly celebrate that we are “one nation under God.”

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN ACTIVE CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES SERVICE STORIES

INDIANA’S REVITALIZING COMMUNITY SPIRIT THROUGH VIBRANT PARK TRANSFORMATIONS

Bringing vibrancy back to local spaces combines community service with lots of fun! The IN0091 Troop members and their Charter Organization embarked on a mission to revitalize worn picnic tables at a local park. With enthusiasm, Girl Members scraped away old, peeling paint, making way for fresh, bright colors that breathed new life into the area. This collaborative effort not only beautified the park but also fostered teamwork and strengthened the Troop’s sense of community. Working on this project taught the Girl Members dedication, filling them with joy as they saw their hard work transform the space. As they painted, friendships flourished, echoing the vibrant hues they applied. The renewed tables showcase the Troop’s commitment and service and will ensure families have a clean, welcoming place to gather and create memories for years to come.

EVERGREEN ECHOES IN CALIFORNIA: HONORING MILITARY HEROES

THROUGH WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

The AHG Oath encourages girls to serve their community and honor their country with Christcentered hearts. During the 2025 Christmas season, CA0480 Girl Members exemplified this by participating in Wreaths Across America—placing wreaths on veterans’ graves, ensuring military servicemen and women are remembered and honored. At the cemetery, two men in Civil War attire, who were descendants of veterans buried there, shared about historical military uniforms and equipment. The girls appreciated this meaningful experience of honoring their country and uplifting their community. Explorer Grace expressed, “My favorite part of Wreaths Across America is honoring veterans who’ve sacrificed their lives for our freedom, making it a special service event to do annually.” Explorers Ady, Nia, Joy, and Scarlett cherished the act of laying down wreaths in recognition of veterans’ sacrifices. Tenderheart Kaila added, “Driving by the cemetery reminds me of putting down wreaths with my AHG Troop.”

SERVING OTHERS & SPREADING JOY IN WEST VIRGINIA, ONE SNACK AT A TIME

What makes snacks taste even better? Sharing them with your community! At WV0058’s Charter Organization, Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an annual event teaching children about Jesus and the Bible. Troop Pioneer and Patriot Girl Members prepared and served VBS snacks, giving back meaningfully to their Charter. “It was great to see the impact that VBS has on our community, seeing the kids learn about Jesus. Running the kitchen at VBS taught me leadership skills like having to make adjustments on the fly, meeting the needs of different groups, and working to deliver snacks on a tight timeline,” said Patriot Macy. Friendships blossomed and deepened during this service event, as Pioneers gained the opportunity to work more closely with Patriots. Pioneers Kyla and Juliana and Patriots Taylor and Madeleine shared that they enjoyed the teamwork and fellowship that echoed in the kitchen— having fun serving others and spreading Jesus’ love.

INCREDIBLE TALES OF LEADERSHIP, VOLUNTEERING, AND FRIENDSHIP

HIGH ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES OFFER NEW EXPERIENCES & ATTITUDES OF GRIT FOR PATRIOT GIRLS

Every summer, TX0516 embarks on a High Adventure outdoor trip, and this year was unforgettable. Patriot Girl Members explored Enchanted Rock Mountain and dived into a Wild Cave Tour at Austin’s Longhorn Cavern State Park. The tour challenged Girl Members to crawl through mud, navigate a 10-foot-deep chute, and wade through water. The adventure had girls kayaking, swimming, and conquering crippling fears at Inks Lake State Park. The journey continued with a Hidden Passages Tour at Inner Space Caverns, where the girls navigated by flashlight. Finally, they soaked in the Texas culture with a visit to the state capital and the Texas State Cemetery, capped by a sunset cruise to witness Austin’s famous bats. The trip was filled with bonding, breathtaking views, challenges, and growth—an experience every AHG Troop should embrace!

GAMES, JOY, & LOTS OF FUN—AN UNFORGETTABLE 30TH BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR ALL AGES

A milestone birthday party filled with joyful activities is sure to create core memories for Girl Members. In celebration of AHG’s 30th Birthday, OR2719 organized a fun-filled event that transformed an ordinary Troop meeting into something extraordinary. After an Opening Flag Ceremony and a heartfelt devotion, party stations designed to complement the Troop’s work on the Toys & Games Badge kept the festive flow moving. Activities like a giant game of Tetris, cookie decorating, mood board making, and girl connector-activities like “get 30 hugs” and “freeze like a statue for 30 seconds” highlighted the evening. Tenderheart Leilani and her mom Cat, a Tenderheart Unit Leader, enjoyed the photobooth with fun props. Cat expressed, “We have been so blessed to find this inclusive and kind group of girls.” The party’s joyous energy echoed with moms, grandmas, and happy girls —a testament to the deep appreciation the Troop has for AHG.

MOTHER-DAUGHTER CONNECTIONS & GROWING FAITH THROUGH AHG

The End-of-Year Awards Ceremony for CA1923 delivered lots of smiles. Eveline, an Assistant Pathfinder Unit Leader, celebrated her daughters’ growth. Pathfinder Audrey eagerly anticipated joining her sister Avarie as a Tenderheart, allowing them to share sisterhood fun and memories in the same Unit. Eveline began volunteering with the Pathfinders to support her daughters, witnessing their blossoming faith and community involvement. She values the skill and character building that AHG resources provide. “I love that each badge has faith connections. It’s not just about planting a flower or riding a horse; we learn Biblical stories or a connected Bible verse behind the badges.” Like many AHG parents, Eveline loves the emphasis on meaningful service, teaching girls that small actions can have a big impact—on their hearts and their community! From cards to veterans to baked Christmas goodies, the girls have learned to serve with genuine and compassionate hearts.

BADGE STORIES

LEARNING LIFE SKILLS AND BUILDING CONFIDENCE

FRESHWATER & MARINE BIOLOGY BADGE

To be a freshwater or marine biologist, one needs an intense and sound background in science, mathematics, and writing. Curiosity is a great leader in observing as much as possible about your surroundings. Seek out water habitats and aquatic creatures and plants that live there. God created a multitude of mysterious and fascinating creatures.

AL0125 “seized the day” on an unforgettable journey to earn their Freshwater & Marine Biology Badge at the vibrant Marine Education Center at the University of Southern Mississippi. Girl Members went kayaking to learn about unique underwater ecosystems, conducted water quality tests, and examined samples under microscopes. They teamed up to dissect a shark, explore marine life intricacies, and even learned Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese art of recording different types of fish. Touring the facility, they gained insights into hurricane impact and adaptive measures to protect the habitat. Explorers Rayna, Cecilia, and Wilda discovered the many ways that sharks and sea animals thrive. This experience mixed education, adventure, and camaraderie, leaving lasting memories. Pioneer Fiona said, “I was amazed by the incredible information and staff. It made me feel more confident for future dissections. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who gets the opportunity!”

HORSEMANSHIP BADGE

Horses have always been a popular animal and favorite of many girls. Horsemanship means knowing how to care for and ride horses. Riding and caring for a horse is a big responsibility. Learning to do so correctly is essential for the health and safety of both the rider and the horse.

AR2819 Girl Members, ranging from Tenderhearts to Patriots, journeyed to a nearby equine center to earn their Horsemanship Badge. On their adventure, each girl was assigned a horse, and they embarked on a two-hour ride through picturesque mountains to their campsite. Once they arrived, girls engaged in hands-on learning, removing saddles, grooming their horses, inspecting hooves, and gaining insights into horse behavior, care, and safety. Later, gathered around a campfire, girls discussed veterinary care and the realities of horse ownership. Despite the cold night, their spirits remained high, and they awoke to a satisfying breakfast before riding back to the Trading Post. This badge experience left Girl Members with newfound confidence, teaching them to face fears and master the reins, ultimately fostering a sense of accomplishment. The skills and resilience they gained, along with fun memories and chilly nights, are sure to be cherished for years to come.

SEWING BADGE

Sewing can be as basic as replacing a button, repairing a torn hem, or stitching a hole in a seam. It can be as fun and creative as designing home fashions or as challenging as sewing a suit. When girls master the basics, they will be will be prepared to tackle bigger and more complicated projects.

What’s a timeless skill to unlocking charming fashion from decade to decade? Stitch by stitch, Troop FL2511 sewed their way back to the 1950s. Working diligently on their Sewing Badge, girls alongside dedicated Unit leaders crafted charming poodle skirts to wear at an AHG Father-Daughter Dance, on theme to a delightful 1950s sock hop. Hosted at their Troop Charter Organization, Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, the dance was an unforgettable evening filled with lively dancing, warm fellowship, and an opportunity for Pioneers and Patriots to showcase the “1952 Bunny Hop Dance,” fulfilling a key Dance Badge requirement. The girls and their fathers savored a menu featuring classic soda-pop, root beer floats, and other all-American treats. The event was a resounding success, and the Troop is already excited to revisit this dance theme for future badge activities.

VOLUNTEER STORIES

INSPIRING ANECDOTES OF WISDOM, DEDICATION, AND MENTORSHIP

DEDICATED LEADERS IN KANSAS THROW A NAMESAKE PARTY FOR THEIR TROOP

KS2315 celebrated AHG’s 30th Birthday with a memorable Level Award namesake party. Leaders dressed as AHG namesakes, helped girls connect with historic women of integrity. Vice Coordinator and Explorer Unit Leader Amanda shared, “I loved bringing this celebration to life with our Troop—a perfect opportunity to learn more about our Level Award namesakes and blend it seamlessly with our PRICELESS celebration.” The pearl-themed evening, complete with mozzarella “pearl” kebabs and lemon-raspberry boba, featured activities like crafting PRICELESS bracelets and opening clams to find real pearls. Jessica, the Troop Charter Representative, shared, “Researching each of the namesakes was truly a humbling experience! What incredible women role models they are for all of us!” Girl Members were captivated by the namesake figures, each portrayed by their dedicated leaders.

WISDOM OF FAITHFUL VOLUNTEERS ENRICHES NORTH CAROLINA GIRL MEMBERS

AHG volunteers like Ms. Lucy provide a safe environment for young girls to grow in their faith and experience the joys of girlhood. She is a quiet lady who carries a warm smile and a kind spirit. Ms. Lucy has made a significant impact on Troop NC2318 by becoming an Adult Member and sharing her knowledge of sign language. Her skills have been especially beneficial to the Troop’s Pioneer Unit, led by a volunteer with hearing loss. Ms. Lucy’s involvement as an Adult Member filled a crucial role, enriching her Troop with her experiences and enthusiasm. She actively participates in Troop activities and helped with the Needle Arts Badge. The Troop cherishes the love, kindness, and wisdom she offers, appreciating her role within their AHG family. Ms. Lucy continues to form PRICELESS bonds with all the members of her Troop—Girl and Adult Members alike.

BRIDGING GENERATIONS: TENNESSEE TROOP EXPERIENCES LASTING IMPACTS OF SENIOR SUPPORT

AHG Troops are dedicated to building multi-generational connections, with senior volunteers playing a pivotal role. Working with two senior ladies’ classes from their Charter Organization, TN0314 organized an open house guided by Tenderheart Unit Leader Tammy Jernigan. The senior ladies’ support was invaluable, offering snacks, refreshments, and welcoming the community to learn about the Troop and their activities. During a Troop meeting, an artistic lady even inspired the girls with a crafting session. To uplift homebound seniors, the Troop also organized a “reverse trick-or-treating” event, delivering handmade bouquets and pumpkins while reciting the AHG Creed and Oath, fostering joy and cross-generational connections. The Troop girls shared joy and gained a deeper understanding of community outreach. Girl Members sent heartfelt cards with Bible verses to the seniors, and the Troop plans to host a tea party later this spring to honor these remarkable ladies who have made a lasting impact.

CHARTER ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHTS

ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPACTFUL FORCE IN THE WELL-BEING OF AN AHG TROOP IS THE CHARTER ORGANIZATION.

Every Troop is owned by a Charter Organization, which is typically a church, school, or similarly aligned Christian organization. Without the support of their Charter Organization, an AHG Troop would not exist. When the Charter Organization and Charter Representative are involved beyond simply providing meeting space, the AHG Ministry can have an incredible impact on the outreach of the organization.

WHY DID YOUR CHURCH DECIDE TO CHARTER AN AHG TROOP?

Through a desire to offer faith-fueled experiences for our girls, we earnestly sought something better for our parish. We found the AHG website, visited a nearby Troop, and knew that it was exactly what we were looking for to support our parish youth. We met with our parish priest about chartering an AHG Troop and had his full support. Our Troop Board gathered, and we dedicated our Troop number, OH0516, to our parish’s Patron Saints’ Feast Day—St. Brendan the Navigator.

PLANO, TEXAS

HOW HAVE YOU SEEN GROWTH IN YOUR YOUTH/ FAMILY/WOMEN’S MINISTRY PROGRAMMING SINCE CHARTERING AN AHG TROOP?

We’ve experienced an amazing inaugural year, serving 44 girls across all AHG Program Levels, from Pathfinders to Patriots. We believe God uniquely equips families. Our Troop intentionally uses the God-given talents of our mothers, grandmothers, and families through Prestonwood to create meaningful opportunities for girls whether in teaching, event planning, outdoor skills, or discipleship. One of the most beautiful parts of TX1220 is watching generations come together. We have mothers serving alongside daughters, grandmothers imparting wisdom, dads participating in special Father-Daughter events, and church members pouring into girls they may not otherwise meet. Our Troop strengthens the larger church body by creating relationships across ages. We have experienced Titus 2 lived out in real time. In our first year, TX1220 completed more than 300 hours of service with highlights including hosting a powerful Veterans Day event, writing letters to veterans, creating valentines for the Widows Luncheon, and serving and donating to Prestonwood Pregnancy Center.

WHY DID YOUR CHURCH DECIDE TO CHARTER AN AHG TROOP?

When our Troop Board introduced American Heritage Girls to Memorial Lutheran, it quickly became clear this wasn’t just another program. Our Youth Director, Nathan Engman, reviewed AHG’s Christcentered approach and saw how closely it aligned with the church’s discipleship goals. AHG is a natural extension of Memorial’s mission. What began as a presentation became a shared vision. After prayer and discussion, Memorial Lutheran Church chartered our AHG Troop, recognizing it as a ministry investing in young women who know Christ, serve others, and grow as servant-leaders in our community.

WHAT THE WORLD TELLS GIRLS

The world tells girls to bend and blend. In an ever-changing landscape of shifting standards for truth, today’s girls are caught in the blender of culture—constantly being shaken, set off kilter, clamoring for acceptance, a sense of worth, a place to belong. Recent years have shown that girls and women are targeted in the crossfires of culture wars. By what standards do girls measure themselves these days? The goal posts are in constant flux, but some of the deceptive messages include:

“Abortion is healthcare—a basic human right.”

“Gender is fluid—able to be altered even from the youngest age.”

“Toxic people must be ruthlessly cut off—loyal friendship is too risky.”

“If you’re not on social media—you’re missing out on the world.”

“The Bible is irrelevant—an antique designed by the ruling class to oppress.”

The pressure is ringing loud for today’s girls. Deafening noise forces its way into her most sacred space—her heart, mind, and soul. In a girl’s formative years, rather than moving through phases of girlhood, young womanhood, and womanhood in secure support, she is now catapulted into various spaces with a meticulouslydesigned machine attempting to unsettle any connection to God, her family, peace, and a relationship with the Bible. The enemy’s playbook is on full display and the effects have surfaced.

STATE OF GIRLHOOD & WOMANHOOD

So, what is the state of girlhood today? Multiple sources report that depression, anxiety disorders, self-harm, and suicide rates are on the rise in adolescents, with girls being affected at double the rate as boys. The latest statistics show that suicide rates for girls between the ages of 10-14 have risen by more than 128% since 2008.1

Not all girls these days experience the fresh air, the thrill of climbing a tree, or the summer glee of catching fireflies in jars. Experiences are commonly connected to a screen. Modern girls receive an average of 200 notifications per day from various apps on their smartphones.2 Can you imagine being interrupted 200 times in one day— day—during a season when your brain just developed the capacity for abstract thought and your sense of identity is being sealed in place? Social media app notifications are then the gateway for girls to access a ‘drug’ more addictive than cocaine (dopamine), leaving them swimming in a sludge of likes, follows, comments, and the pressure to perform. When the primary discipler for our girls is a technology that seems to connect them to the worst the world has to offer, where is the sense of hope for future generations?

HOPE HAS COME—AS A RESCUER & REDEEMER

While those of us raising, mentoring, and leading girls feel the pull of the same culture blender, God is not surprised. He is ever secure and solidly on His throne. And His plan has always been to rescue and redeem a broken people back to Himself. The Gospel message holds the hope our girls are desperate for. While it seems the tide refuses to turn, we need only pray for eyes to see the work that God has already ordained and nurtured.

At American Heritage Girls (AHG), the Mission to build women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country has faithfully followed the Lord’s lead for the last 30 years. The AHG Program serves girls ages 5 to 18 through AHG Troops across the nation. AHG Troops offer a safe, Holy Spirit-filled place for girls to learn who and Whose they are, to have experiences and gain skills, to forge lasting friendships, and to have the freedom to navigate girlhood as intended. Through time-honored scout-type methods like badgework, outdoor adventure, and service, AHG’s firm hold to a Biblical Worldview roots a girl’s journey in Scripture. The thousands of dedicated volunteers who tirelessly pour into girls’ lives impart the deep goodness of Titus 2-style discipleship in the Troop setting, allowing older women to shepherd younger women, and older girls to positively lead younger girls. As a multi-generational village, AHG welcomes with open arms the senior wisdom, love, and care that our wise and vibrant women can share through Charter Organizations (often churches, Christian schools, and homeschool co-ops). Within this community, every adventure, every friendship, every act of service flows from one source—the love of Christ.

WOMEN OF INTEGRITY: AN ETERNAL TREASURE

In the Book of Exodus, God called His chosen people out of bondage, a 400-year legacy that they thought would never release its grip. But as God called His people out of Egypt, it was clear that it would take much more to get the Egypt out of them. Over time, generation after generation lost hope that God would ever remember His covenant with them. But even after they were freed, it took patience, care, and consistent truth to bring them back into trust and communion with the Lord.

Some of our girls are in bondage—chained to a culture that demands full allegiance, unquestioning obedience, and intends to take from them the deepest treasure—their identity. Since the turn of the 21st century, research has been showing a concerning trend—young adults lack purpose, saying their lives don’t hold a deeper meaning.3 Unsurprisingly, when a culture refuses to recognize and revere God, their base notions of beginning, virtue in the journey, and ultimate hope in Jesus have no bearing. Left to culture’s leading, our girls would remain in bondage—no meaning, a bleak outlook. But God has a different plan for His girls. The Lord calls them out of a life led in darkness, with no vision, and no sense of who and Whose they are. 1 Peter 2:9, ESV reminds them, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” For families desperate to connect their girls to a solid, nurturing community, AHG Troops radiate the marvelous light of Christ to them. It is in these regular Troop meetings that the Lord’s patience, care, and consistent truth are freely shared, inviting girls into the beautiful journey of Godly girlhood.

These 1,300+ Troops nationwide are all united under one shared AHG Statement of Faith. The volunteers joyfully serve with hearts laser-focused on teaching Scripture, infusing confidence through skill-building, and shepherding leadership qualities that will shine in the next generation of Christian women. AHG Troops are truly something set apart—something culture cannot offer our girls.

REDEFINING BOLDNESS FOR TODAY’S GIRLS & TOMORROW’S WOMEN

In a culture that tells girls faith is irrelevant, AHG is raising up young women bold enough to live out a Biblical Worldview with confidence and grace. Through adventure and leadership, girls discover the courage to do hard things—the kind that set them apart and honor Christ. Girls build lasting friendships and learn the joy of serving others as they live out their faith and make a difference in their communities.

American Heritage Girls—at every age stage—are coming ready to dance, to laugh, to lead. They have feet planted solidly on the ground. Their hearts are courageous, their vision clear. They emerge into womanhood humble before the Lord, hope-filled and effervescent, persevering through challenges, able and open to nurture those around them, ready to adapt, to move in strategy and wisdom. There is something altogether different happening through the AHG Ministry, a force that cannot be stopped and refuses to bow to cultural lies tearing down everything in its path.

CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE

God has equipped everyone to influence others for His purpose. In this course, girls will explore how a deeper understanding of their circle of influence can help them intentionally form and nurture their most significant relationships. They will learn the meaning of “circle of influence,” identify the people within their circle, and discover how to impact them for Christ. Finally, girls will examine God’s example of influence as represented by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

EVERYONE CAN LEAD

Every Christ-follower has a responsibility to lead others as part of God’s command to love one another. Dig deeper into Biblical leadership and basic leadership skills. Girls learn how leadership is portrayed in Scripture and how their Creator designed them with unique skills, interests, and personality to live out their calling as Christ-following leaders. Using a hands-on object lesson, girls will uncover ways they can personally make a lasting impression on those in their circle of influence through effective leadership.

Girls discover that being deeply rooted in Christ cultivates fruitful, Godly attributes that enable girls to inspire and uplift others. When His strength is combined with the outpouring of His grace in their lives, girls can assuredly and lovingly demonstrate compassion in any situation. This combination of grit and grace, rooted in Christ, empowers girls to lead with confidence and serve others joyfully, ultimately creating a lasting impact.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP

Jesus is recognized by Christ-followers as the most influential leader in history. He led by example and taught His followers the principles of effective servant leadership. Through hands-on approaches, girls will explore the significance of humble love and service-oriented leadership, grounded in the values of compassion, confidence, character, and consistency. By developing these character skills, they will be empowered to succeed as they learn to equip, enable, and encourage their teams.

HOW DID YOU GROW SPIRITUALLY FROM THE EXPERIENCE?

I grew spiritually from this experience in that I realized that the times when I struggled with stress, those were the times when I wasn’t as consistent in reading the Bible, so I learned that I really do need His Word. When it looked like everything would fall through because we were out of time, God would make it all work miraculously at the last possible moment, which taught me even when I don’t see a way to make it work, God has His plan to make it all work.

Some of the most rewarding experiences were getting to work with and befriend the staff of Richland Cemetery Association and getting to watch the girls of my Troop blossom in the new skills they acquired on the workdays and throughout this process.

Since 2001, the Stars & Stripes Award has stood as the pinnacle achievement in the American Heritage Girls Program. More than 1,500 young women have earned this honor by planning and completing a 100-plus-hour capstone project that highlights the skills they’ve gained through AHG’s six badge frontiers. Each candidate then presents a portfolio and written reflections to a Board of Review led by her Troop Board Members. The Stars & Stripes Award ultimately challenges girls to apply their years of learning, lead with integrity, and demonstrate true servant leadership within their communities.

Meet Erin Plitt, a courageous woman of faith whose deep love for the Lord anchors compassion-filled advocacy for life at every stage, and whose time in the AHG Program built core character strengths—a source of joy from girlhood into adulthood.

Longevity through the AHG Program is a gift to Girl Members, because they possess the opportunity to grow and blossom through every stage of life, building their skills and experience as each year passes. Erin Plitt of VA0218 has the legacy of longevity in AHG—she participated in her local Troop through every Program Level, 13 years in total. She also achieved the program’s pinnacle award, the Stars & Stripes Award, as a Patriot Girl Member. With her mom as VA0218’s starting Adult Member and leader, Erin’s experience was truly immersive and hands-on through every facet of the AHG Program! There are core elements of AHG that will forever be sealed into Erin’s soul. She says, “I still have the AHG Oath and Creed memorized and often use them as a moral compass. Through AHG, those principles became more than words—they became part of my character.” For Erin, the AHG Oath and Creed are both grounding and guiding. In fact, when it was time for Erin to launch into adulthood, her AHG values shaped her decision-making process regarding college. As a citizen in her community, Erin always seeks to uphold and increase the dignity in others.

She remembers favorite AHG Badges like Survival, Search, & Rescue and cherished every memory that Troop service projects, campouts, and special events delivered. In addition to discovering valuable life skills through badgework, Erin remembers particularly loving the mentorship and friendship connections woven among the Girl Members of her Troop. These days, one can find Erin still connected with a local AHG Troop. Since her younger sister is still a Girl Member, she says, “I love staying in touch with some of the younger girls in the Troop; it’s encouraging to hear about their plans for the future and how AHG continues to shape their lives.”

Erin’s passion for her faith cultivated a love for sharing the Gospel in every stage of life. She decided to forgo vacation time and chose to serve as an AHG Ambassador during last year’s Eucharistic Congress event. She said, “I loved wearing my AHG Uniform shirt and having people ask me about the AHG Program!”

Erin married in the fall of 2025! She adopted her new last name and stepped into the role of wife. She feels that AHG prepared her for the journey through “Troop leaders modeling in parenting their own kids and the ways they cared for their marriages by respecting their spouses. The AHG Oath and Creed were the best training grounds to prepare me as a wife. I hope to start a family, and through AHG inspired building blocks, God has constructed—over time—a strength, dignity, and humility in me. I love having fruitful discussions with my husband about who we are and how we live.”

EMILY STENGEL, OH2513

Meet Emily Stengel, a women who was a Girl Member from the original AHG Troop, OH1995, in its earliest days. Her pioneer spirit and dedication to the AHG Mission have long shepherded God’s legacy in and through her life.

Within the AHG Ministry, it is a rare gift to see a member of the original AHG Troop, OH1995, track through the program and now diligently guide more girls as an Adult Member. Emily Stengel was one of 12 girls to start AHG in West Chester, OH in 1995. In the earliest days, mothers and daughters held a crisp resolve and adaptable resilience—after all, these are vital principles when you’re navigating uncharted waters to start a ministry. As a sixth grader, Emily’s mom, Lorraine—a close friend of Patti Garibay, AHG’s Founder and Executive Director Emeritus—knew that the direction Girl Scouts was taking required a different path for her family. After a well-timed Sunday homily message, Emily’s family knew it was important to do what was right in the eyes of the Lord, so they blazed a trail ahead. Her younger sister, a Tenderheart at the time, Emily, an Explorer, and other families joined together with their girls to form American Heritage Girls’ first Troop—OH1995 and OH0895 combined.

Originally, the girls had three badges they could complete; one of which was the Sewing Badge—hence the first AHG Uniforms! Since Emily now serves as an Adult Member, she had the privilege of seeing her own daughter, Katie, wear it at a special Crossover Ceremony to advance from Tenderheart to Explorer. Emily remembers the feeling of excitement as a girl, and it thrilled her heart to see Katie step into the same place wearing a family heirloom.

Every AHG Troop offers girls a chance to embrace the great outdoors. Emily’s Troop participated in two camping trips each fall and spring, requiring them to rise to the challenge of weather, equipment preparation, and resilience. She recalls “waking up to frost on our tents and pouring down rain” on multiple occasions. With fortitude, Emily repeats the same refrain from her girlhood that she passes on to today’s Troop girls: “If you can camp in the rain, you can do anything!”

The hard-won lessons of leadership marked Emily’s years from Explorer through the Pioneer Program Levels, specifically centered around heart posture. “Having a positive attitude makes all the difference in most situations,” a maxim she passes along to her own Troop girls today. She saw her mother serve in Troop leadership and her father serve on the AHG National Board of Trustees. Leadership was the timeliest mindset she could step into as she grew from girl to woman through AHG.

Life these days involves teaching fourth grade Language Arts, serving as Vice Coordinator in her AHG Troop, OH2513, and raising each of her three daughters along with her husband, Chris, who is also involved in their local Trail Life USA Troop. Emily is so grateful to also remain connected with some of the original AHG families through her church! “I feel blessed to have made so many friends in American Heritage Girls. Many of the friends I have today, have daughters in our parish’s American Heritage Girls Troop.”

JOIN THE #AHGSHOEBOX CHALLENGE

SHARING A HEART TO SERVE & SENDING THE LOVE OF CHRIST

Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a project of Samaritan’s Purse, has partnered with AHG for over a decade to collect and distribute gift-filled shoeboxes to millions of children around the world, telling them the Good News of Jesus Christ, God’s Greatest Gift. AHG Troops donate and pack shoeboxes as a way to live out AHG’s core value of service, then boxes are collected the third week of November and sent to OCC Processing Centers to be inspected, organized, and prepared for their final destination. The AHG-OCC connection multiplies the efforts of two nationwide ministries to reach millions of children, their families, and to transform their communities through the unstoppable

BALTIMORE AREA

For the sixth year, the AHG Baltimore Area Troops gathered at the OCC Processing Center in their city, with some Troops traveling up to 5.5 hours to reach the facility to serve. The day featured AHG volunteers representing five states surrounding Baltimore to lend their time and joy transforming piles of packed shoeboxes into inspected and neatly stacked pallets with the Good News of Jesus

With 84 AHG volunteers strong, the AHG Dallas Area and Ft. Worth Area coordinated Troop efforts for the OCC Processing Center Day—a time full of joy paired with AHG faith, service, and fun while sending the Gospel message to the ends of the earth. The day was marked with abundant smiles, laughter, and hardworking AHG Members inspecting and stacking shoeboxes for the next leg of the journey.

AHG SEES THE FULL JOURNEY —OCC VISION TRIP TO BELIZE

In March, AHG, Inc. Staff Member Natalie Ambrose and D.C. Metro Area Coordinator Carrie Kilareski embarked on the journey of a lifetime to Belize along with a collection of representatives from many ministries connected with OCC. The trip offered a chance to envision the ways the Gospel echoes through every nation via AHG’s continued work with Operation Christmas Child.

AREA TEAMS NATIONWIDE

UPLIFTING STORIES OF COMMUNITY, LEADERSHIP, AND CAMARADERIE

MINISTRIES IN THE D.C. METRO AREA WORK TOGETHER FOR GOD’S KINGDOM

In November 2025, WGTS 91.9, a Washington D.C. Christian radio station, reached out to AHG’s D.C. Metro Area Coordinator to pack food bags for local food pantries. Due to logistical challenges, there was a need for volunteers to unload, pack, and distribute food items. In a combined effort, AHG alongside Trail Life Members rose to the challenge to serve their community. An entire day was spent packing 2,109 meals and distributing them at the radio station’s parking lot, with infectious joy and unwavering commitment to service—a testament to the power of teamwork and faith. In interviews conducted by the radio station, Troop Pioneers and Patriots shared the Mission of AHG and the love of Christ, making the event a profound experience of giving and sharing. This day wasn’t just about distributing food; it was about spreading hope, fostering fellowship, and shining the light of Christ through actions and service.

The Greater Houston Area Team hosted its second annual LEAD adult equipping event in September 2025, beginning the day with Embracing Wisdom. Volunteers watched AHG’s Letter to My Leader video and participated in the Discover Your Unique Wisdom Quiz— prompting reflection on their leadership and influence in ministry. In preparation for the event, girls from Troops across the Area were invited to write “Letters to a Leader” as an encouragement for the volunteers attending. The team prayed that enough letters would be received for each participant, and God faithfully provided the exact number needed. The heartfelt notes reminded leaders of the significance of their service and the lasting impact they have on the girls they mentor. The session set the tone for a day of training, connection, and applicable equipping methods, through roundtables and breakout discussions.

TWIN CITIES AREA TEAM STRENGTHENS BONDS, EARNS BADGES WITH A TRIBUTE TO LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY

Bringing Troops together for a day of learning, leadership, connection, and shared experiences, the Twin Cities Area Team recently hosted its Winter Badge Day. Nine Tenderheart badges and six Explorer badges were given during the event’s organized sessions. Beyond earning badges, the event encompassed meaningful relationships among girls and leaders from different Troops. Leaders exchanged ideas, discussed Troop programming, and began exploring opportunities for Multi-Troop events like expanding communities and creating new experiences for girls across the area. The gathering also allowed leaders to encourage one another in their roles and share insights that built confidence for hosting future events. The day served as a tribute to Tracy, the Twin Cities Area Team Event Coordinator, who had planned the Winter Badge Exposition before her passing in the fall. Honoring her vision, the event strengthened leadership, collaboration, and community among Troops.

A DAY OF SPIRITUAL REFRESHMENT & CONNECTION FOR THE LA-OC AREA TEAM

The Los Angeles and Orange County (LA-OC) Area Team recently hosted Rest & Refresh, an Adult Member event designed to spiritually encourage volunteers who faithfully pour into girls and Troop communities throughout the year. Led by LA-OC Area Events Coordinator Katie, the afternoon included worship, devotional time, yoga, lunch, and a Scripture-inspired art project, all intentionally created to foster rest, renewal, and connection. What unfolded was more than a planned schedule; it became a moment for volunteers to reconnect with God and one another. Over lunch, conversations deepened as women shared personal journeys, encouraged one another, and discovered common experiences in ministry and motherhood. One participant shared that the event was “just what I needed to reconnect with God and one another,” adding that she “met new friends” and plans to stay in touch with another Troop Shepherd for mutual encouragement throughout the year.

HIGH IMPACT INSIGHT

Elaine Bacio has served as a Hometown Mentor on the AHG Area Team for the past two years. Elaine has been involved with AHG for over six years and has served in a variety of roles and in multiple states, including as a member of the National Sounding Board, Troop Vice Coordinator in Idaho, and founding Troop Coordinator in California. She currently resides in Meridian, Idaho, with her husband (Paul), their three children (Caleb, Joy, and Abby), and their dog (Hazel).

WHAT DOES AHG’S MISSION “TO BUILD WOMEN OF INTEGRITY” MEAN TO YOU AS AN AHG AREA TEAMS VOLUNTEER?

To me, “building women of integrity” is really about helping girls live lives where their faith, character, and actions all line up. I often tell my Troop girls that integrity isn’t just about behavior; it’s about the heart behind it. It starts with being rooted in their faith in Christ and being confident in who He says they are. From that foundation, character is developed in the small, everyday choices, choosing compassion, honesty, and perseverance, even when it’s hard. As an Area Teams volunteer, I see my role as supporting leaders and Troops as they create safe spaces where girls can practice all three aspects of integrity at Troop meetings, service projects, and in the community. Over time, that alignment becomes a compass that guides the girls long after their AHG years are over.

HOW DO YOU SEE AHG AREA TEAMS AS A BEACON OF HOPE TO IMPACT THE NEXT GENERATION?

Girls today are growing up in a world that is often confusing and uncertain about truth. AHG Area Teams serve as a beacon of hope by reinforcing a Christcentered message of identity, purpose, and belonging, not just within individual Troops, but across the region. I like to remind girls and leaders in the Treasure Valley that they are part of something bigger; something grounded in Biblical Truth. When leaders feel supported and connected, that light reaches farther than any one Troop could on its own.

WHAT ARE SOME WAYS THAT YOU RECOMMEND FOR TROOPS TO LINK UP TO DEVELOP A HEALTHY NETWORK OF COMMUNITY?

One of the simplest ways Troops can link up through Area Teams is by just being willing to say “yes”—to attending Area events, joining a service project, and showing up for leader trainings. When we show up

together, relationships naturally form. I also encourage leaders to see Area gatherings as more than just another thing on the calendar. They’re opportunities to connect, share ideas, swap resources, and even talk through challenges. Sometimes it’s as simple as reaching out to another Troop to co-host a badge workshop or partner on a service project. Those small collaborations can go a long way. Healthy community is built through consistent communication, encouragement, and celebrating one another’s wins. When Troops link arms instead of working in silos, everyone is stronger, especially our girls.

HOW DO AHG AREA TEAMS MAXIMIZE A POSITIVE IMPACT THROUGH SERVICE IN A SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHIC AREA?

I have seen AHG Area Teams maximize impact by serving locally and relationally. Whether it is serving at a veterans breakfast, donating girl-made baby blankets to a crisis pregnancy center, or participating in a local city parade, our support of the Troops allow them to spread love and joy in our community.

SPECIFIC WAYS YOU’VE SEEN AHG AREA TEAMS CHANGE THE FABRIC OF THE CULTURE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE AREA?

Even with my short tenure as a Hometown Mentor, I’ve watched AHG Area Teams help change the culture in meaningful ways. Leaders who once felt isolated now experience unity and encouragement. When leaders feel supported, they serve with greater confidence and joy, and that culture naturally flows down to the girls. I’ve also seen a shift from comparison to shared mission. Instead of competing, Troops celebrate and strengthen one another. And in that environment, girls truly grow into women grounded in truth and integrity.

NEW TROOP SPOTLIGHT

Troop MI3126 successfully navigated the charter process in 2025! They chose their Troop number both for the Troop’s location in Michigan and from the Bible verse found in Proverbs 31:26, NIV, “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” Troop Coordinator, Jamie Wolfgang, shares highlights and wisdom from the process.

WHAT DID YOU FIND MOST BENEFICIAL AS YOU WORKED WITH THE AHG TROOP SUPPORT SPECIALIST (TSS) NEW TROOP TEAM THROUGH YOUR FIRST YEAR?

They helped me not overthink the process and kept me leveled. They helped me stay focused and prayed with me.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR TROOP’S FAVORITE ACTIVITY AND WHY?

I have worked hard to make those opportunities a reality, providing diverse experiences for the girls. Only a few weeks after the Troop began to meet, the girls had an opportunity to serve both the Charter Organization and the community through the spring cleanup day at Midland First Methodist Church (MFMC), and through the Midland Blooms event that was held on May 17, 2025. Midland Blooms is an annual event that allows residents, individuals or as part of groups, to work together to plant flowers along the length of Eastman Avenue. The event organizers granted our Troop a section of the street where both AHG and Trail Life Troops could work to beautify the MFMC grounds. Troop Members and their families gathered early on Saturday morning to plant the cheerful fuchsia flowers into the holes that the city trucks had made in the dirt along the tree lawn the day before. Not only did the girls get to enjoy some fresh morning air with their families and new friends, but they also received a mention of thanks from the senior pastor the following Sunday morning.

SUPPORT TEAM LAUNCHED FOR NEW AHG TROOPS

AHG’s TSS (Troop Support Specialist) New Troop Team was launched with one mission: to help newly chartered Troops start strong and thrive long-term.

During a Troop’s first year, a dedicated Troop Support Specialist comes alongside new volunteers with consistent support through phone calls and emails—offering guidance, encouragement, and practical advice along the way. Key areas of support include building strong relationships with Charter Organizations, strengthening Girl and Adult Member recruitment, and successfully navigating AHG’s Health and Safety Policies and Guidelines.

The TSS New Troop Team is committed to helping new Troops build a confident, healthy foundation so they can grow, flourish, and impact girls for years to come.

Whether the work entails planning, problem-solving, drafting curriculum, balancing ledgers, answering questions from AHG Members, or attending meetings, the goal is to never lose sight of the mission field upon which we are working.

The conversations had, the decisions made, and supporting all the cherished AHG Members, carry spiritual weight. Even the behind-the-scenes work matters, because it helps create space for discipleship, growth, and Christ-centered leadership to flourish. That perspective shapes how the AHG, Inc. Staff show up each day. “IS GOD CALLING YOU TO A CAREER AT AHG?

The Mission of American Heritage Girls (AHG) is to build women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

I recently discussed this mission with a friend and fellow father over lunch. We agreed that the most important thing that we desire and even need for our daughters is that they grow to be women of Godly character. As life goes, many priorities of the day often seem important: doing well in school, playing a sport well, and meeting the expectations of friends, parents, and others. The aim of AHG is to train girls of Godly character who will approach those daily priorities with consistency of faith and action.

In Proverbs 31, the Bible gives us one of the most treasured descriptions we have of a woman of integrity. Proverbs 31:10-31 contains over 25 action-oriented tasks that this amazing woman accomplishes, but it is the first and last bookend verses that provide the lens through which all of her work is accomplished. Verse 10 says that she is of “noble character” and verse 30 lauds her “fear of the Lord”. It is her integrity, her Godly character, that fuels all that she must accomplish.

For over 30 years the American Heritage Girls Ministry has been blessed by God to equip faithful Troop Coordinators and Adult Members to join in our mission. This work is all the more important today. Modern culture increasingly confuses and misses the message of what it means to be a woman who faithfully serves God, her family, her community, and her country. We do not know the specific challenges that today and tomorrow will hold for each American Heritage Girl, but we know that all circumstances will be best met with the integrity of Godly character.

Each badge earned, service project completed, and friendship made continues to be a block placed in building the next generation of Godly girls. The American Heritage Girls National Board of Trustees invites you to join with us to invest in this good work.
