Welcome to the American Chianina Association’s 2026 Chiangus Sire Directory! This publication was created to serve as an educational resource for producers interested in breeding Chiangus cattle, while also compiling many of the top Chiangus sires the breed has to offer in one convenient resource.
The beef industry is currently experiencing an exciting time, with market prices reaching levels many producers have never seen before. Beef demand remains strong, and consumers are willing to pay for high-quality protein. With that opportunity comes the importance of using the right genetics to move the industry forward.
The bulls featured in this directory represent genetics that can add value across all sectors of the beef industry. Whether you are a cow/calf producer, backgrounder, feedyard operator, or seedstock producer, there are sires here that can work for your program and help you reach your goals. Chiangus cattle are known as the original cross, and their versatility allows them to make an impact in whatever segment of the beef industry you serve. Their ability to combine performance, efficiency, maternal traits and carcass merit allows them to work in a variety of production systems while helping producers capture added value.
We encourage you to reach out to the owners of the bulls featured in this directory with any questions regarding their genetics or semen availability. If the American Chianina Association staff can be of assistance, please feel free to contact Heather, Rilee, or myself at any time. We appreciate your interest in the Chiangus breed and hope this directory serves as a valuable tool for your breeding decisions.
Sincerely,
Dustin Hurlbut

Breeding Chiangus cattle is not a complicated process, but understanding the requirements for registration is important when making breeding decisions. The following guidelines from the Rules of Registration outline the rules to consider when breeding for Chiangus cattle.
C. Composite Breeds
1. Chiangus/Red Chiangus - ACA cattle known as “Chiangus” are eligible for registration based upon any mating between Chianina, Chiangus, Red Chiangus, Angus or 1A Red Angus registered with the American Angus Association, Red Angus Association of American or the ACA, as a *Foundation “F” parent which results in a black or red (white is acceptable only from the naval back and contained to the underline) polled, or scurred offspring that contains no more than 6.25% of another breed may be registered as a Chiangus. Scurs or scur tissue cannot be altered or removed (surgically or otherwise) from Chiangus born after January 1, 1992 unless they have been genetically tested and found to be polled. Cattle showing as Chiangus or Red Chiangus that are determined to have heads that have been altered, must produce a DNA test whose results have found the animal to be polled, in order to show as a Chiangus.
The bulls in this directory are listed from the highest Chiangus percentage to the lowest percentage. This format is intended to help breeders quickly identify sires that best match the level of Chiangus influence they want to incorporate into their breeding programs.
For producers interested in exhibiting Chiangus cattle, it is important to consider the show eligibility requirements when making breeding decisions. While cattle may be registered as Chiangus with less than 6.25% Chianina, those animals are not eligible to show as Chiangus.
To exhibit as Chiangus at national shows, cattle must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of 6.25% Chianina
• No more than 6.249% of other breeds
• The remainder must be Angus or Red Angus
These requirements apply to major national shows including the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), American Royal, Cattlemen’s Congress, Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, National Western Stock Show, and the National Junior Heifer Show. Please note that Chiangus cattle that fall below the 6.25% Chianina requirement but remain within the other Chiangus breed limits are eligible to show in Chi-Composite divisions where those shows are offered.
The first section of bulls in this directory range in Chiangus percentage from 25.80% down to 12.60%. These bulls can be used on Angus cows to produce Chiangus cattle in the first generation, making them an excellent option for producers looking to introduce Chiangus genetics into their herd.
They may also be used on Chiangus cows to increase the percentage of Chianina if that is a goal within your breeding program. Additionally, these bulls can be used on Chianina cows to produce Chiangus offspring, provided careful attention is given to the percentage of other breeds present in the cow. As long as the percentage of other breeds in the resulting progeny remains below 6.249%, they will qualify as Chiangus under ACA registration guidelines.

Pictured as a five year old, Stonewall is our go-to herd sire to make outstanding females. We have only sold 3 Stonewall daughters to date, but two of them have went on to be 5th overall at Junior Nationals and another Reserve Chianina at San Antonio in 2025. The daughters we’ve kept are in production now and have excellent udders and the beautiful phenotype we strive for. His full sisters have averaged nearly $17,000 in our sales. When we mated 03X to Bismarck we were thinking about the daughters, but little did we know the son would perhaps become the best breeding piece of them all.
